Nigello
Mine was to have gone up 50% but then I went online to e-on's site and that offer had gone. The E-on Energy Plan was not fixed and predicted a doubling of my current payments over the year April 22 - 23. The next best option was fixed and was another forty quid or so monthly, but that would mean that an October hike would not affect me (I think). I am using 20 percent less leccy and gas than last year and am determined to reduce more. (Of course, all of these are projected usage so if I am really scrimpy then I could reduce these estimates considerably.) jazzer
My fixed deal ended in early January and had to take a variable deal which shortly afterwards was withdrawn for new customers. Currently the direct debit is the same as was on the fixed deal, but expecting that will need to either be increased or will have to pay any debt at the end of each quarter. I checked the suppliers new variable tariffs a few weeks ago, it was shocking to see how much further they have increased compared to what I am expecting to be paying. jazzer
Just did the quarterly readings and got the new total. The combined gas and electricity bill has increased by 50% for the same amounts of gas and energy used in 2021. Up from ?186 to ?281. IlonaM
My EDF dual fuel fixed deal ends at the end of April '22. Currently DDR of ?90 pcm. Just went online to see what fixed deals they're offering - both with DDR over ?300 pcm. They have a warning on the site saying their fixed tariffs are currently more than the standard variable. Nigello
Yes, but the variable may well fall foul of October cap increases and/or increased prices because of the Ukraine invasion. Best bet - be prepared to spend more on fuel and cut cloth accordingly, eg. restricted use of heating, hot water. IlonaM
Sadly, hindsight is a pain - a few months ago the cost would have been about ?150 pcm on a fixed deal. At the time I did not think I could manage the extra cost. Kicking myself now, of course. Looking to reduce use as much as possible.
