Edited to say some kind soul is checking for me and so hopefully I'll be feeling very silly soon and all will be well

I'm away from home looking after my father who is in hospital.

I haven't been able to get through to my family all day and I think because I'm away and stressed I'm really worried - probably totally unnecessarily about them.

I thought someone might be able to help by quickly popping round to my house and ringing the bell - I suspect they've just left the phone off the hook but in my stressed state I'm imagining carbon monoxide poisioning etc etc

My mobile was stolen - so I've lost all my contact - which is why I'm asking on the forum.

Please PM me if you can do this and I'll send you my address - and I'll make a chocolate cake for you when I return!!!

Thank you DonGee My dad is slowly improving and all is well at home

They'd just misplaced the home phone and it had run out of charge - as well as not answering their mobiles!

Thanks for everyone who offered to help and the lovely person who popped over and got my daughter to give me a ring

    • The regulator has approved 2nd class deliveries on alternate days, excluding Saturdays. So Monday, Wednesday and Friday on week 1. Tuesday and Thursday on week 2. Don't know when it starts but in theory it will be better than the current haphazard service. Earlier this week I received bills and other items which had been in the post for 2 weeks. Definitely not the fault of the posties.
    • has lost a Bengal cat there was one wandering around Townley Road this morning - I'm assuming it is not the norm for this fellow to be out and about solo but I'm not a cat expert... IMG_5815.heic IMG_5819 2.heic
    • Hi everyone, I'm Gen, a catsitter based in Sydenham - if you're away this summer and need some care for your pets, please do consider me!  I can typically cover Sydenham, Forest Hill, Penge, Anerley, Crystal Palace, East Dulwich and parts of Peckham. If it's outside those areas, it still might be worth messaging me to see if I can help. I'm registered with Cat in a Flat, with flawless reviews – I'm happy to accept clients through there, or just directly (you can just DM me on the forum here) - whichever you're more comfortable with. I've been catsitting for a few years, and also used to volunteer for Celia Hammond. Here's my profile https://catinaflat.co.uk/pet-sitter/377081 Ping me a message if you need help or have any questions!
    • And we humans bear a lot of responsibility for creating the conditions that brought foxes into urban settings. I certainly don't regard them as pests - they are noisy little criminals, but I'm very fond of them (we have huge numbers of them in my area - I rescued a lost baby fox earlier this year). However, there are pest control companies that use humane methods to deter them and redirect them to different territories (a friend of mine works for one, but sadly for OP, I don't think this is in their catchment area).
