Annasfield
I need to drive up to Liverpool tomorrow, collecting a friend in Muswell hill. I was going to go over London Bridge and through the city at about 7.30 am, but I'm not sure it will be possible.Does anyone know which roads will be closed. I've tried looking on the marathon website, but can't really tell if that route will be affected. buggie
on south circular today the signs were saying road closures from 7am for the marathon - might be worth going over waterloo bridge and up kingsway - pretty sure those bits shouldn't be affected/won't need to be closed that early x Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3041-the-marathon/#findComment-94367 Share on other sites

Pickle
I did it 3 years ago, amazing experience! Watching it on TV now, feeling motivated... although at 6 months preggers not sure I'll be running any time soon. For 3 days afterwards I had to go up and down the stairs in our house sitting on my backside. Worth it though! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3041-the-marathon/#findComment-94428 Share on other sites

LizzygotDizzy
LizzygotDizzy}}}}}} ran the marathon yesterday (time 4hrs and 58 mins) never again, no amount of training gets you ready for the actual slog, but the crowds are really nice and kept you going and handed out drinks and sweets all way round, although you were encouraged to take only from designated drinking stations as there are some sick gits out there! Raised over ?1,000 for the NSPCC, but very very sore today! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3041-the-marathon/#findComment-94519 Share on other sites

LizzygotDizzy
I've heard that Ibuprofen is really good for muscle pains, is that true? or am I being spun a yarn? Pickle
Yep, Ibuprofen was my best friend after I did the marathon. Try and get some of the super strength stuff, it will sort you out. Well done! LizzygotDizzy
Thanks guys, think I'll actually start the training a bit earlier next time though! though no time soon! ah yes, now ibuprofen my new best friend! Thought I was a lot fitter than that, did a seriously funny wobbly leg dance as I crossed the finish line and my legs couldn't take any more, they had a mind all of their own and the buggers just refused to hold me up any longer. Have to say I kind of got a bit carried away on the BNP thread earlier, (well my mouth got a bit carried away I should say) am a little heated at times and don't always think before I type! or shoot my mouth off! think I practically accused Kalamitykel of being a member of the BNP, will pm her an apology. mightyroar
Well done Lizzygotdizzy. That is a serious achievement. I have run a couple of half marathons and they were tough enough for me. I just dont think I could run the whole lot. Did you hit the 'wall' that everyone always talks about?
