And of course before house, there was Sylvester, the disco queen and his Do You Wanna Funk?

Just a reminder to everyone that the OASIS tour goes on sale tomorrow (Weds 20th August). Two nights at Wembley.

Strange that there's no Manchester gig on the list but I'm sure they'll get round to adding one some time.

PRODIGY is playing Brixton and that goes on sale on Thursday.

DUFFY also playing Brixton but avoid that one - it's a terrible venue for her.

METALLICA playing London (O2 I think) next month and that will go on sale this week but I'm not sure exactly when. I'm told that the tickets will only cost ?5 each. I was about 14 the last time I paid ?5 to get into a gig.

That 'orrible Dancing in the Streets thing was the compromise after a proposed trans-atlantic duet was mooted and ruled out for Live Aid. I know it was all done within 12 hours or something but still

* shudders *

good call on Absolute Beginners Jah - great song (same band as the Dancing in the Streets thing as well)

Quite right. The only thing worse than listening to "Dancing In the Streets" is watching the video.

Oooooohhhhhh you got to see Bob Marley. Impressed. Someone invited me to go see him at the Rainbow (I think?) and I turned them down. I thought I would catch him next time he rolled into town. Then he died. Rude, don?t you think? He?s not the only one with bad manners though:

Ray Charles ? had front row seats at Hammersmith Apollo ? died ? got refunded ? RUDE

Nina Simone ? had row 6 seats at the Albert Hall ? died ? got refunded ? RUDE

The above two came quite close together so I saw a pattern forming and got a little freaked; stopped buying tickets for a while (it was only fair really).

More on the METALLICA gig next month:

It's at O2 on 15th September. Apparently the reason that they're knocking the tickets out for just ?5 each is that the gig is a thank you to fans. I'm rather touched by this because the likes of the Stones and U2 just want to squeeze every last ??? from their fans.

Anyway, if you want to go to this then you should go to www.metallica.com and sign up pretty quick. They are likely to close the door on people signing up just to get tickets so don't hang about. These tickets won't go on general sale.

A fiver! That's brilliant value even if I'm not much of a fan of Metallica I think that's a very honourable thing to do for their fans. As much as I love the Stones seeing them the O2 last year the tickets were ?150 each although luckily for me I didn't have to pay as a friend who was a big cheese at EMI until his recent redundancy got me the tickets for nothing.

I saw them in Nice the year before and they were the best I'd ever seen them and I haven't missed a tour since I first saw them in '76. Luckily I didn't have to pay for those tickets either. But, really it's not like they need the money and ?150 is just a rip-off even if they living legends and the best live act around.

Let's put 'em on anyway...I bloody love the Stones.

Tune!! Poor Delroy died so young like 46 or some3thing, he would have only been 58 now. Started young like Freddie macgegor.

    • There's been a spate of phone snatching around East Dulwich station and along Lordship Lane. But don't let that put you off the area, these things come and go. I've never had an issue late at night in the areas you talk about and I've been around here for 18yrs (before I moved I had the same concerns as you). Go visit your areas late at night at different times for your own peace of mind (I did)
    • Posted September 20, 202Hello all Hello all Just a quick message to say I've just had a job postponed so I have some time available to do some work for you if you should need a painter around the end of the month. I also do a variety of other jobs too so if anyone needs a handyman, please feel free to get in touch. Happy to do a free quote. Thanks for reading
    • So sorry to hear this. Our bike was stolen from outside Dulwich Library earlier this month. We had a D Lock and they still got through. Probably the same person who’s just cruising up and down the lane. I hope you find it.
    • Hi, I would like to raise some awareness around East Dulwich especially on Lordship lane.  Today my bike electric bike was stolen from in front of my house between the hours of 9:00 and 10:45. If anyone see anything I would be very grateful.  Please do not use a chain lock to lock your bike. Preferably a d-lock. My bike was double locked with two chains and they still manage to take it. Be careful and be aware of Thief.  Here are some pictures of my bike. If you see or hear anything I would really appreciate it.
