"Downham is a district located in south-east London, occupying much of the boundary between the London Borough of Lewisham and the London Borough of Bromley; it is the name of an electoral ward covering much of the area on the Lewisham side. Downham was named in honour of Lord Downham, who was chairman of the London County Council between 1919-20.[1]"

Not 20 years ago there weren't!

Hipster didn't exist then. Hipsters took all the cool stuff and made it annoyingly pretentious. That is my honest opinion. Since my early 20s I've always liked drinking in "old skool" pubs, because I hate hate hate places that are "cool and hip".

Total load of wank.
