Clearly there's a split 50/50 those who object and those who think builders should have free reign. I am setting up a register of all those who don't mind builders in front of their home. Just pm me and everyone will be happy.

Imagine how many disintegrating bathrooms, kitchens and everything else are packed into all the crumbling, disintegrating, often neglected victorian houses within, say, a single square mile of your front door? Expect constant building work somewhere near you.

No need to be a dick about it though. Getting your kitchen finished three days earlier is not more important than *not* pissing-off everyone within earshot for weeks on end. Start at a reasonable time. Finish at a reasonable time.

Sometimes people park their own cars further away so the builders can get their stuff right outside their house and therefore just mess-up that bit of street rather than the bit outside someone else's house.

Fucking tractors rolling up at 5am, sections of the fields blocked off by endless bales of fucking hay and cows who think they can roam wherever the fuck they like, nothing worse than a pushy heifer, not to mention the shit they leave everywhere! Thank god for the sanctity of dense early 20th century urban sprawl.

Thanks peckhamgatecrasher, have been debating getting a bay for three years, but felt it unfair that i would be taking up a permanent space.however i am seriously considering it now, like others in this rd (think about myself only).

Also a one off incident 'i wish' this has beeen going on for 2 hlf years.skip outside my house for five weeks last summer.whilst thier car parked on drive, vans blocking any space any where near to me getting in.

Not hundred per cent but think you find that builders, deliveries etc are not suppose to make a nuisance until 8am.

not silly o'clock 6 am.

We all have work done to our homes, all i'm moaning about is the lack of consideration for each other.if your cars parked outside your house 'you move it for your builders' you park in the next street, dont inconvience others when you don't inconvience youselfs.

Seriously? Surely that's a sarcastic comment! I mean like why should someone go park in another street and inconvenience that street just becoz your neighbour can't park right outside their house? That's just ridiculous along with the notion that anyone has a given right to park directly outside their own house.

Thanks e-dealer,

Kalamity.neighbour does park outside their house that's the problem.suggest u read all my post again.

saddens me to think that you found my comments sarcastic,I felt that i was expressing my views and having a nice little debate on here about the annoyance of constant builders in my rd.

I am a psychotherapist i now feel i will have to take time out to reflect and psychoanalysis my comments and attitude in this debate.Hope none of the above you find sarcastic.

    • Anyone else had problems getting full statements out of Dental Beauty? We are happy with them generally but my partner has had a lot of treatment recently and needs the statements to put in an insurance claim. Every time she has to chase them for the statement - they tend to say they are too busy to do it at the time, but they are never too busy to take payment. And yes, my partner has taken it up with them but its hard to discuss billing matters when your mouth is numb from extensive root canal surgery! I've suggested next time she should say she is witholding payment until they have statement to issue, but she's seen Marathon Man and doesnt want to make them angry.
    • I've been a member for many years (through 3 different organisations running it..) and a regular attendee of the gym though not the classes. I'm REALLY REALLY disapointed that it now feels very much geared toward weights and strength training with the cardio machines cut down considerably in number (only about 5 or 6 X trainers..I had to wait to use one) running machines halved in number and a lot of wasted space. Also I thought the actual cardio machine I did use was pretty rubbish (It felt like something from Argos) and not by one of the well known gym equipment brands that I've used in other gyms..also no screen display settings so you can 'run on a beach' etc. And the Wifi still was'nt linked to machines so no youtube netflix etc. I felt the gym seemed less inclusive the ab crunch has gone, seated row gone, the seated machine you make cycling movements with your arms, gone...these are all machines I see older members using, I did'nt notice if the recumbent bikes had gone or the two step machines, the ski-movement x trainers of which there were 2 have also gone My general impression was that these was a distinct scarcity of weight based machines and the focus was very much on free weights with this taking up the majority of the space. BECAUSE ITS A COUNCIL RUN GYM SURELY WITH THE AGING POPULATION AND OBESITY CRISIS THE EQUIPMENT IN SUCH A LARGE FLOOR SPACE SHOULD OF A RANGE THAT CAN BE USED BY OLDER AND LESS FIT MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY?! Kings hospital used to bring groups to the gym to use the use the cardio equipment-I don't know what they'll use now? I raised concerns about the majority of the space being used for free weights when I saw the plans and asked for member feedback prior to the refurb, I must have been in the minority I guess. I was also suprised that the changing area is still the same and looking pretty tired. I felt that with all this new equipment they should have had lots of visible staff on the floor helping people get to understand settings and so forth. I wish Everyone active still ran the gym..in my experience they were the best. But having really looked forward to the reopening I found it a real let down☹️ In a nutshell if you want a muscle gym its great and I understand there will soon be a boxing area-I was not told that there would be more cardio machines coming.
