The e-dealer sounds like a bit of a nasty neighbour - hiding cones and the like.

As Sue said, I think this is fairly normal and you should make the effort to accommodate your neighbours - so long as they arent taking the p1ss. I imagine you would expect the same courtesy if you had work done to your property.

They are taking the p1ss 3 months and bits of road fenced off with nothing inside and cones left all night Anyway the good thing is its an offence to use the road for building work without permission and since I think they have had a reasonable time I have reported them.
The builders have pretty much taken over our end of Crawthew Grove with their kit, skips and a little hut for them to make their tea and go to the loo. We did get a note through the door telling us there would be disruption, but I am surprised how much space that they have been allowed. Assuming they have been through official channels that is.
They don't have a legal right but I think they should be given some latitude. I had builders for the best part of a year and my neighbours were fantastic. I have the best neighbours and I'm grateful for their support. In the last 12 months my builders had their van broken into and tools stolen 3 times. This is a very expensive occupational hazard for them. You can't really blame them for wanting their van and tools as close to the job as possible. I had building materials stolen from outside my house. There are gangs of thieves scouring areas like this (with lots of building work going on) to scout out stuff to nick. Give your neighbours and their builders a break.

Have you tried carrying a tool box full of tools, steel beams, or 50 bags of cement, or bricks?

They tend to be quite heavy so I am not really surprised they want to get close to the job.

They have a small van. They Don't need to annex 30 feet of road for 24 hours 7 days a week. And They can always drive to the destination unload and park elsewhere. However as I said they have annexed the road put a skip there and and abandoned it for 3 days now. I just hope you can cope when it happens to you. and its not neighbours its property developers.

You will probably find the skip was just dumped there by the skip company. They can be a bit like that. Its the scaffolders i find truly strange breed 'Kor facking ell laaarve, niice knockers hahahahahaha' yelled at 8am from the top of a building. Charming.

at least the neighbouring house is being maintained and you will get a nice quiet middle class family living next door ( I jest).

Why doesn't everyone just put cones in front of their house... Why do builders need a parking space more than residents? I'd move them too. Selfish gits. We had builders working on our house and they never once reserved the space.... Just got there early enough to beat the estate agents to the parking spaces.

I think i'm in the same rd as e-dealer,and yes i'm sick of all the builders taking the pee .Builders arrived at 6am .Impressed'I have had this for the last year.waking up your neighbours with van doors slamming, builders chatting, laughing.chucking down tools, getting stuff out of theirs van. then the banging and drilling starts.it's been great fun. i'm disabled can't park car outside house in fact not even in my street. They dug a hole outside next doors gate which extended over my path, put a wobbly plank of wood over said hole. couldn't get out for 24hrs. laugh a minute living here. And when all the works done sell-up. New neighbours move in, lets all start again. oooooooooooo lovely rant over. people having work done, maybe for you it's exciting, lovely to look forward to new said jobbby, But do spare a thought for next door.

And no why should i go live somewhere else, bit of consideration goes a long way before anyone pipes up.

tut, tut, tut getting to the job at 6am ready to start, how dare thay close the van door! who do thay think thay are "chatting" and "laughing" and as for unloading the van well i think my heeeeed is about to explode!...i...i..i need a earl grey!

Nannyjuice, sorry to hear about your trouble - however, do you not think you're reading a little too much into one isolated incident?

It would be likely that moving house would be an excessive response to workmen doing some work outside your house once?

    • Anyone else had problems getting full statements out of Dental Beauty? We are happy with them generally but my partner has had a lot of treatment recently and needs the statements to put in an insurance claim. Every time she has to chase them for the statement - they tend to say they are too busy to do it at the time, but they are never too busy to take payment. And yes, my partner has taken it up with them but its hard to discuss billing matters when your mouth is numb from extensive root canal surgery! I've suggested next time she should say she is witholding payment until they have statement to issue, but she's seen Marathon Man and doesnt want to make them angry.
    • I've been a member for many years (through 3 different organisations running it..) and a regular attendee of the gym though not the classes. I'm REALLY REALLY disapointed that it now feels very much geared toward weights and strength training with the cardio machines cut down considerably in number (only about 5 or 6 X trainers..I had to wait to use one) running machines halved in number and a lot of wasted space. Also I thought the actual cardio machine I did use was pretty rubbish (It felt like something from Argos) and not by one of the well known gym equipment brands that I've used in other gyms..also no screen display settings so you can 'run on a beach' etc. And the Wifi still was'nt linked to machines so no youtube netflix etc. I felt the gym seemed less inclusive the ab crunch has gone, seated row gone, the seated machine you make cycling movements with your arms, gone...these are all machines I see older members using, I did'nt notice if the recumbent bikes had gone or the two step machines, the ski-movement x trainers of which there were 2 have also gone My general impression was that these was a distinct scarcity of weight based machines and the focus was very much on free weights with this taking up the majority of the space. BECAUSE ITS A COUNCIL RUN GYM SURELY WITH THE AGING POPULATION AND OBESITY CRISIS THE EQUIPMENT IN SUCH A LARGE FLOOR SPACE SHOULD OF A RANGE THAT CAN BE USED BY OLDER AND LESS FIT MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY?! Kings hospital used to bring groups to the gym to use the use the cardio equipment-I don't know what they'll use now? I raised concerns about the majority of the space being used for free weights when I saw the plans and asked for member feedback prior to the refurb, I must have been in the minority I guess. I was also suprised that the changing area is still the same and looking pretty tired. I felt that with all this new equipment they should have had lots of visible staff on the floor helping people get to understand settings and so forth. I wish Everyone active still ran the gym..in my experience they were the best. But having really looked forward to the reopening I found it a real let down☹️ In a nutshell if you want a muscle gym its great and I understand there will soon be a boxing area-I was not told that there would be more cardio machines coming.
