ed_pete
I normally would have bitten the bullet and moved up to Windows 11 but for once in my life I've decided to stay where I am for as long as I can.I have a newish laptop and am reasonably technically competent so don't think it would be that painful but just don't see the point really. I expect I'll stay on Win10 until they stop rolling out security patches.Anyone else tried it ? alex_b
I?m trialing at work and really like it. It?s not massively different but it feels ?cleaner?, the changes are helpful and I?ve not encountered any issues. The biggest benefit I?ve seen is in window layout management, you can have multiple desktops and can snap windows to more layouts (halves, thirds, quarters and a few other options). If you hate the start button in the middle you can put it back on the left too. Friernlocal
It killed my brand new Dell PC! The computer came with an advert saying it would upgrade to Windows 11 when released. I did the upgrade immediately it came out. It worked for a day. The next day it wouldn't boot, can't remember the error message, but it wouldn't load Windows. Phoned Dell tech service. Waste of time. After about 45 minutes the advisor said the main board was faulty and they would arrange a collection for repair. Luckily I'd created the recovery drive when I first started the PC when I bought it. This allowed me to uninstall the Windows 11 updated. PC worked again. Perhaps I'll try again just before the 12 months warranty expires.
