spanners45
Hi All. Our wheelie bin was stolen (yes, stolen and yes, a wheelie bin, beats me!!) over the weekend and I need to get a replacement one. Unfortunately that means dishing out the money as the council don't replace them for free. I was wondering if anyone had any tips on where I can get one at a good price. The council charge ?46.50 or so, which seems rather a lot especially since it was stolen and it's hardly our fault. Any help much appreciated! Peckhamgatecrasher
That doesn't seem fair, spanners. Why don't you pm James Barber and see if he can help? dresswaves
As far as I know, if your are in Southwark, replacement bins are free. The form on Southwark's website doesn't mention any charge. https://forms.southwark.gov.uk/ShowForm.asp?fm_fid=728 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/30266-where-to-buy-a-new-wheelie-bin/#findComment-626311 Share on other sites

spanners45
Thanks all for your replies. I can't quite work out what anyone does with a stolen bin (not even a recycling one, just plain rubbish, pardon the pun). Indeed, Peckhamgatecrasher, not fair at all but it seems that's how it works in Lambeth. You have given me an idea of finding out who the Lambeth councillor is and write to her/him. Then again, I guess in most situations when you have something stolen is down to you to replace it again (insurance helps sometimes). Bloonoo, such kind offer but are you sure you don't need them? It's a regular rubbish bin. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/30266-where-to-buy-a-new-wheelie-bin/#findComment-626431 Share on other sites

spanners45
Amazingly, I got home this morning for lunch with the kids and our 'wandering' bin has been returned! Someone's guilty conscience? Who knows, I am just glad it is back. Thank you to all those of you who offered one of your spare ones. I will be in touch if it goes walkies again.
