Chillaxed
Hello. Was wondering at what age you all started your kids off on scooters i.e. the hold the handlebars, one foot on the deck, scoot with your other foot type? Our son has just turned 2 but is very active and has gotten bored with his tri-wheeled, sit-down scooter. Did you use a helmet initially? Any advice gratefully received. Thanks. KatDew
One of my twins could properly scoot before her second birthday (she kept stealing her big brothers)... her big brother didn't manage it till past 3 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/30249-age-to-start-using-a-scooter/#findComment-626183 Share on other sites
Fuschia
My little one has a micro scooter with the seat attached and was using it from about 18m Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/30249-age-to-start-using-a-scooter/#findComment-626185 Share on other sites
Knomester
Our toddler got his scooter a month or two before his 2nd birthday as an early birthday present. He took to it pretty much straight away. He had (and still has) a helmet. He never had the one with the seat, just straight onto a mini micro. DaveR
Most kids seem to get the hang of the mini micro fine at around 2 years old (both of mine did), which I guess is one of the reasons it's so popular. We didn't give them helmets - tbh it never even occurred to me. etta166
My first child was 2.5, the second was 18m. Both wear helmets, which have saved them from nasty face-plants if nothing more serious.I got the lower o-ring handle off the forum for my 18m old because she couldn't reach the handlebar on the original. Scrummymummy
My 22 month old has just started using her older sister's micro mini. I find using reins keeps her on the path and gives me piece of mind!
