Guest
Important to get it off your chest I think. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3020-pronunciation-guide/page/6/#findComment-94409 Share on other sites
SteveT
I always enjoy erudition, command, and getting the phlegm off your chest. I think it stops wrinkles gathering on the forehead, and reduces the risk of arthritic joints in later life. Guest
True, and you can reduce the wrinkles on the forehead and around the eyes even more by never smiling. Not sure re getting phlegm off chest though; although I scored around the same as Mahatma Ghandi on the political compass thread, I do think spitting in public ('oysters') should be a capital offence. Or at least flogging. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3020-pronunciation-guide/page/6/#findComment-94473 Share on other sites

KalamityKel
I've tried saying it as you've suggested... I just sound stupid... :-$ Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3020-pronunciation-guide/page/6/#findComment-95137 Share on other sites
Nero
Why not just not use 'basically'. It is much too overused, and hasn't been supplanted by anything else since the 80s. KalamityKel
A friend of mine has the most interesting outlook on the pronounciation of the word "cancelled" - Can-cell-led took me ages to figure out what he was saying.
