Sally Eva
On Jan 22nd we will have 2 rides, one short and one longer. Registration on Eventbrite as usual. Note if all places are already booked it is worth checking back as there are occasional cancellations during the week, or better join the Wait List. If you cannot make it, please cancel so that someone else can take the place. Even at the last minute it is worth cancelling. Ride details Dulwich to Crystal Palace. Amanda leading. About 10 miles. Start 10am, finish around 12.30 (allowing time for a coffee break). This is a route we have done several times, most memorably in February 2019 with snow on the ground in Crystal Palace Park (see photo with ride report at http://healthyrider.weebly.com/healthy-ride-reports-jan-march2019.html). Should be no risk of snow this week! Propose to ride clockwise. Start across to Peckham Rye Park then over the hill at Nunhead and down to the Waterlink Way at Ladywell Fields. Follow the off-road Waterlink Way (Nat Route 21) for nearly 2 miles to Lower Sydenham. Continue on quiet streets to Cator Park followed by a loop through Penge to Crystal Palace Park. Have to check out the dinosaurs, then up the hill to Crystal Palace Parade. Steep in places, but plenty of time to walk stretches if necessary (you will not be the only one doing this!). Finish with a delightful run downhill back to Dulwich park. Route map https://goo.gl/rfUzwn London Bridge to Parliament Hill Bruce leading. 13 mile loop with time to compare the views from Parliament Hill and Primrose Hill. 10.00 am to 1.00 pm. Start/finish Southwark Gateway Needle, south east side of London Bridge, close to the station. Outward route will pass St Pauls, pause at Kings Cross (Granary Square), through atmospheric St Pancras Cemetery, then roads (some busy) to Parliament Hill Fields. Will stop at the Caf? for a break. Energetic riders can walk up to the viewpoint ? there will be time for that. Return route will pass the Roundhouse then ascend Primrose Hill. From there go through Regents Park, then across Bloomsbury, past UCL and the British Museum. Finally join the Cycleway as far as the Monument before crossing back over London Bridge. A mostly quiet route except for about a mile along Kentish Town Road and Highgate Road. Route at These rides are organised by Southwark Cyclists and are part of a regular programme of Saturday rides, more information at [southwarkcyclists.org.uk].
