Only this morning I was looking at his work opp the carpet shop. Really, is it that interesting - meh. Hoxton's got some on the back of the ol' 333 - still meh !

And what's with the hood up - you don't know who I am gig. Really, I don't care for it, if only for that dreary grey-brown colour scheme in his work.

That said, I watched Ben Eine a few weeks ago, finishing his work on the side of Shoreditch House. Hood off and chatting to anyone who came up. Very nice - pretty colours.

Still, free prints are free prints. I'm sure Sue is enjoying it.

I think Stik is great. I think his stuff has really brightened up East Dulwich.

He deliberately subdued his colours to match the painting and blend better with Dulwich. And if you saw him painting it last year he spent ages chatting with everyone who was passing by including our local policeman.

Still it's a bit D.U.L.L isn't it. And he must have had a job lot of the ol' grey-brown paint because he's used it in Hoxton too.

Does anyone know how to get in touch with him? There is a mural - now spoiled by repairs and subsequent vandalism - on Goodrich Road near to Barry Road that could do with being painted over with something new.

Those black and white imaginary spidery people. Hope you like him better than Stik, Annette! The landlady is delighted with this and her son more so as Phlegm has agreed to let him help.

This is all part of the Dulwich Street Art Festival in May. And Stik wont be participating as he agrees Dulwich has probably had enough of him!

strange how times change innit - I remember when a proposed graf fest was discussed for ED circa 2003/4 - I do remember seeing local shops with notices in the window opposing the festival.

I'm already bored with the giant Stik cartoons - I mean they're there every bloody day, like wallpaper you put up in a fit of revolutionary zeal then after a week or so wished you'd gone for a nice misty-buff. Street art by all means but let's have a change-up every few weeks - they shouldn't be permanent surely?

I did not say that I Thought Art Needs to be Mature.

The Maturity of Art can be defined on many levels..

One level might be defined as the complexity of a piece of art..

The Stik man might be described as simplistic..

Whilst the work of Phlegm might be described as complex.

Complexity Maturity. The ablity for piece of Art to be reproduced.

OK. So last year I made friends with Stik and we had this idea that he paint walls around Dulwich Picture Gallery with his versions of some of the DPG permanent collection. We got permission and pretty much everyone was happy (I realise you cant please everyone, especially where art is concerned). We ran a couple of walks during last year's Dulwich Festival which sold out http://dulwichonview.org.uk/2012/06/05/stik-art-walk-dulwich-festival-street-art-in-the-heart-of-surburbia/ and we found ourselves introducing about 100 new people to Dulwich Picture Gallery, as these walks attracted mainly Stik followers rather than locals. DPG is always wanting to attract a younger more diverse audience, and this helped.

So this year I teamed up with the guy who runs Street Art London, http://streetartlondon.co.uk/ as he knows lots of street artists and we are continuing the idea but with different artists and interpretations of DPG works. We have about 7 confirmed artists now and are chasing more.

Most of the painting is happening during the Dulwich Festival and we are running associated events - a workshop at Dog Kennel Hill adventure playground, a debate at the EDT, more walks, a party,- so it is in essence a street art festival within the Dulwich Festival.

I think the idea is unique. We are creating a contemporary version of Dulwich Picture Gallery in its locality. So an outdoor, free, 24/7 version of the oldest public art gallery in England. I told Culture 24 (the national online data base of museums) and they loved the idea and said I can register 'Dulwich Street Art Gallery' as an official national museum.

News of this will be out soon, I just want to nail a few more artists. But since you asked....

I really, really hope that local people like this. All public art is imposed on communities, but at least this street art costs people (except me!) nothing, and as councils are now selling their art works, perhaps this sort of thing will replace them.
