North and Roberts might not make it due to injury. However much Gatland wishes he has two more games, surely it's the Aussies who will be undercooked in the first test. They haven't had a game since last year. If 1/2p continues to kick his goals so well, the first test won't be the problem.

Before the Aussies scored their 1st try the Lions had a penalty advantage. In my experience I can't recall a ref calling a penalty offence as 'advantage over' as this one did. So instead of what would be expected normally, at least 3 points for the attacking team (or the chance of), we had 7 points for Australia. A 10 point turnaround.

I understand 'advantage over' being played for lesser offences than a penalty kick but I don't understand this. Of course advantage can't go on forever but surely after x amount of time it goes back to the offended team. The only advantage the Lions could have got was a try which didn't happen.

Anyone got an opinion?

As for the game I think the Lions will be annoyed it was so close. They played for the most part not very well and will improve. The Aussies were like scavengers and good ones at that. I'm not sure about Phillips at SH and I'd love to know how they nearly managed to throw it away losing a scrum under the Aussies posts with a couple of minutes to go.

The British and Irish Lions have suffered a massive setback after influential lock Paul O'Connell was ruled out of the rest of the tour.

O'Connell, who was the 2009 tour captain, suffered a fractured arm in the 23-21 victory over Australia in the first Test in Brisbane.

And a scan on the injury has now revealed the extent of the injury, with O'Connell's tour now over.

It is a cruel blow for O'Connell, who had fought his way back from two serious injuries to make the tour.

A statement on the Lions website read: "British & Irish Lions lock Paul O'Connell has been ruled out of the remaining two games of the series against the Qantas Wallabies after suffering a fractured arm."

I'm sure it was worth it HMB. Always best policy to establish the length of pass achieved with the missus to avoid any messy disputes. I had an "all dayer" - a rare treat, but it was my mates birthday, which was handy.

It was also the only one of the three tests I'll see, so I made the most of it.

Gatland has not helped the Lions brand with his "Wales is good and eveyone else is sh1t" selection.

Thought that after a big representation in the opening test, Gatland would select a better balance of nationalities.

Can't see them winning. There I said it.

I don't disagree with BOD being dropped but I do think he should be on the bench for inspiration and leadership. Rugby teams need leaders and he's just gotten rid of one.
