Just a warning to anyone getting a turtle, they grow very quickly and need a very big tank in no time. They need a lot of care and cleaning out regularly. Mine lived for 21 years, it was found in the street so have no idea how old it actually was. They also need a heater for basking under.

And they need correct diet to prevent their shell morphing into a grotesque (and ultimately fatal) gnarled mess.

Yes, so many of these creatures live a sad miserable life. Shouldn't be pets at all!
