The various sports grounds around Dulwich all (well most, anyway) rent out their pavillions for parties - great for summer events as the party can spill out into the ground - good for over-energetic 16 year-olds. But you will need to book early - they are very popular.
Thank you, that is very useful. I had no idea either of those pubs might do it. I read that the Dog is becoming a 'boutique hotel' - surely not what we need down there. Anyhow I will ask them. Brilliant. Any other suggestions also gratefully received as I like to be thorough!
The clock house on Barry Road is being refurbished at the moment to include a separate function room which will be upstairs so separate from the bar - it's due to re-open at the end of the month that might be an idea! And as it'll be a new room they might be keen to take some bookings!

That rumour's been around for ages.

They keep putting in planning applications and they keep being turned down.

Please let that keep on happening (the turning down) as my stress levels won't stand having to find yet another new venue for http://www.thegooseisout.com :))

Thank you kind people for your suggestions. I would suggest the picnic but he and his friends want to be cooped up in a dark room with very loud music - what a surprise. So it's indoors for them. I will keep checking in case any other ideas come up. It's a bit of a tricky age, not child but not 18 yet either.

Good idea about doing it at home if you or friends have the room! But don't provide any kind of alcohol as this is still against the law at just turned 16. A licensed venue would say no to an under 18s do as it's more than their licence is worth.

Southwark and Lambeth enforcement officers are very active late at night for all kinds of events and turn up just when you least expect it and they have the power to take venue holders to court etc.
