Strawbs
My son goes to 'my favourite nursery' on upland road. I do think their waiting list is also long but it cant hurt to give them a try. Hope you find somewhere.x Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/29873-annoyed-nurseries-and-waiting-lists/#findComment-622827 Share on other sites

hellosailor
recent threads on this on here have suggested that Oak Tree on Tell Grove (off East Dulwich Grove) has spaces. womanofdulwich
it might be worth trying a childminder or nanny share for this age. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/29873-annoyed-nurseries-and-waiting-lists/#findComment-622865 Share on other sites
verds
I left it late last year and found the same thing! But Oak Tree had places and it's lovely. It was perfect for when my little girl turned 3 and was waiting for a place at a school nursery. uzma
Not keen on them. Everyone seems to have negative feed back about them! ( west dulwich !) Peckham rye has a long waiting list to Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/29873-annoyed-nurseries-and-waiting-lists/#findComment-622879 Share on other sites
womanofdulwich
I hear you, and lucky you to have granny, but childminders and nanny shares are really good for socialising, they will take to playgroups and they will interact with other charges, nanny shares esp like this age as so many little ones come to them at 1 and go to nursery at 3-4 so they know they will get 2 years of conistent care/ work. Convex
Oak tree will shortly be full on some days, but if you aren't stuck on particular days they still have space. I would call them soon though as they see to be filling up now there is an up and running baby room to see in action. uzma
I've had an offer from mother goose so I'm going to say yes! I spoke to oak tree but was told it was dependant on the waiting list. I'd rather stick to a nursery that has the offer as I know mother goose waiting list is very LO too!! Sol
I started to believe all this nursery waiting lists are just a trick to may themselves more desirable; the other issue is that people always put their name down in at least 3 nurseries which increase the waiting lists; in reality you just need one to offer you a place. With a bit of chasing I have always been offered places in the nurseries I wanted for my two children Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/29873-annoyed-nurseries-and-waiting-lists/#findComment-623064 Share on other sites

sillywoman
Umza, just being nosey so feel free not to answer, but why won't granny be taking her to playgroups - I know a few local Grannies who do exactly that? uzma
Silly woman- grannies are there to love cherish and spoil :) I don't expect her to in her age go to playgroups!! I am grateful enough she will be looking after my daughter - as if that and the cooking/ cleaning/ shopping/ picking up and dropping to nursery etc isn't enough for her!!! I'm sure she will but the fact that I have gotten a nursery space at mother goose is amazing news!! Bellenden Belle
That's interesting Uzma, that you see playgroups as an awful burden. I think it's the one thing that Baby Belle's granny loves the most - she gets to meet and chat with other people and she gets to see Baby Belle enjoying different activities. My funniest experience was when she took him to a library group and he was asleep throughout - she stayed and said she "enjoyed the songs immensely!" Is Uzma a Muslim name? Forgive my ignorance ..There is actually a Muslim women only playgroup at Peckham Rye one o'clock club on a Thursday. But I agree it's brilliant you've got a nursery place. Bellenden Belle
Oh Uzma - I didn't see your post but I truly hope you didn't think I was being in any way critical. I really wasn't. It rang a bell with me simply because actually sometimes I have found playground quite hard work myself and have been amused / surprised at how granny loves them. All grannies are different but there are some who absolutely relish the experience of mixing with other mums/ childminders/ grannies Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/29873-annoyed-nurseries-and-waiting-lists/#findComment-624344 Share on other sites
Sol
I think you should wait for gumboots if that's what you really want or transfer her once you get an offer. It doesn't matter at this age, it will give her grandma a break if she goes to nursery a few days. It is hard work looking after young children. Good luck Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/29873-annoyed-nurseries-and-waiting-lists/#findComment-624624 Share on other sites
