Hi!

Next film club will be the evening of Sat 21st March. We will meet in the Rye Hotel pub before hand.

Not sure what we will see as the Plex haven't published their times yet, so more details to follow soon.

Everyone welcome. We are a friendly bunch of locals who like a good chat, drink and film! Luisa

Hi Everyone,

I have looked at all of the reviews of the films showing at Peckham Plex on Saturday night, and Still Alice wins!

It has excellent reviews, here is one of them http://www.theguardian.com/film/2015/mar/08/still-alice-review-julianne-moore-superb-alzheimers

So, here's the plan:

Meet 7:15pm in the Rye Hotel. I will post on here where we are sitting or standing.

Leave at 8:15pm to walk to Plex.

Film starts at 8:45pm.

If you can buy tickets in advance to avoid the queues then that's definitely preferable, but not essential.

Hope to see some familiar faces, and newbies are very welcome. It is a very relaxed social group, who enjoy a chat, drink and film.

Depending how late the film finishes, we also go for a drink afterwards as well.

Hope to see you on Saturday! Luisa

Hi,

The best option seems to be Tomorrowland: A world Beyond. It starts at 20:25 at Peckham Plex.

It has good reviews http://www.theguardian.com/film/2015/may/17/tomorrowland-review-george-clooney-turns-mr-incredible-as-a-man-genius-world-saver

We will meet at 7pm at Rye Hotel. I'll have the film clacker board for easy identification and will post on here where we are in the pub.

Let's leave pub at 8pm to get to the film for 20:25. Would be great if you want to pick up tickets before hand to avoid the queues, but that's totally optional.

Everyone very welcome! Any questions pm me. L

After a rather long break, Film Club is back!

We will be meeting in The Rye Hotel on the evening of Fri 29th Jan, and will stay loyal to the Peckham Plex and watch a film there. Films and times aren't published until a few days before, but as soon as they are, I will post on here a time to meet. But for now, keep next Friday free!

Film Club has been a very successful social enterprise with lots of long lasting friendships being made!We are a friendly bunch of locals, around the 30's-40's age bracket, but all are welcome.

We meet in the pub and walk down to the Plex, and depending on time, back to the pub for a drink. Hope to see you there! Louisa

Hi All,

I have chosen The Revenant for Film Club. It has good reviews so fingers crossed. See below for film blurb!

Meet at 19:15 in Rye Hotel - I'll have my film clacker board with me!

Leave 20:10 for Plex

Film starts 20:35.

Try to get tickets in advance as queues can be pretty long there! We are leaving plenty of time so no worries if you can't.

Any questions, PM me! Hope to see lots of faces, old and new! everyone welcome.

L

Inspired by true events, THE REVENANT captures one man's epic adventure of survival and the extraordinary power of the human spirit. In an expedition of the uncharted American wilderness, legendary explorer Hugh Glass (Leonardo DiCaprio) is brutally attacked by a bear and left for dead by members of his own hunting team. In a quest to survive, Glass endures unimaginable grief as well as the betrayal of his confidant John Fitzgerald (Tom Hardy). Guided by sheer will and the love of his family, Glass must navigate a vicious winter in a relentless pursuit to live and find redemption.

Film Club is back!

We will meet in the Rye Pub on sat eve for drinks and then all head down to Peckham Plex for a film. I will organise times once the Plex publish film times, but for now, keep Sat 14th evening free!

For those who have never been, we are a friendly group of locals between 30-45 years of age (but all ages welcome!) and meet for drinks and a film. Many long lasting friendships have been made!

PM me with any questions. I'll be back with film choice and timings soon. Louisa

    • Hello Megalaki84 ,   have you spoken to the restaurant about this the restaurant has never had this issue occur especially with 3 people at the same time i would be keen to see a health report based on this also if you can tell me date time you had come in and i can investigate this on your behalf as we have cameras in the kitchen to inspect our staff , our products are all labelled and thrown if out of date products especially when we have just recently been inspected by health and safety and have had 5 star rated.   i am not disputing that you have had food poisoning but its very unlikely this had been from us however i will be investigating this as a matter of duty as this is the last thing we want.   we have had thousands of customers and have no issues please feel free to direct message me details.   thanks, hakeem Thank you very much 🙏 Thank you for this sue i couldn’t agree with this more we make sure we have no out of date products and make sure we have a clean kitchen and front house to avoid any issues.
    • I agree on this point. I live in a one bedroom ground floor flat with a 2/3 bed flat above, should they build into the loft the negative impact below would be huge. Plus there is already only space (within the garden which is covered by the ground floor lease) for one wheelie bin per flat so unless Southwark decide to allow bins out on the pavements I am not sure where the additional waste produced by more residents will go! There are many things to consider when it comes to deciding on whether to grant planning permission that Southwark have never taken into account, hence the situation I guess they are in now.  From my point of view when part of the property is shared or owned by the freeholder in the case of flats I think the impact of extending, impact on any communal areas, space for bins etc should be taken into account. Every property is different so each case should be looked at differently. Look at some of the house being converted into 3 flats, they look very smart but now the tiny front gardens are full of bins, rubbish and bike sheds that must impact on the ground floor. Personally the appeal of living in a converted Victorian terrace dwindles when they become so small and crammed into a tiny house, might as well live in a purpose built block!
    • Hi all, We've just moved and I'm looking for a chest of drawers for the bedroom if anyone is getting rid of theirs?  Thanks,  Anya
    • Hello, After finding Lukas at L and L Building and Maintenance on this website I wanted to pay it forward and confirm him and his team definitely lived up to the positive reviews. Lukas and his team were extremely diligent with great attention to detail, and nothing that came up during the process was too much trouble for them. The team were very polite and great to have in the house as we were there alongside work being done. Any changes that came up were dealt with easily without any drama. We had a new bathroom and refurbished front of house including new steps etc, and a new loft hatch / boarding. Everything looks great and we are very happy - will 100% go to Lukas in the future for any other work will need and have been recommending to all of our friends.
