Yeah.

Just like anyone genuinely concerned about the environment will reduce how many showers they waste, never waste food, stop buying new goods, consume less product overall, turn veggie and not use their heating system.

As this thread has gone off on a tangent on population growth, the problem with a low birth rate in developed countries is an aging population. You then need to tap into those countries with a higher birth rate, in order to get workers in care and health to support those older people in need. Brexit closed the gate to those easily coming in from the EU (wow I've got Brexit into the thread too) so we now have to do deals with other nations - Philippines and obvious one, but I expect some countries in South Asia too.

Not sure of those newbies are likely to be big on fireworks though.

Interesting discussion, probably best place in the Lounge, although it would die and early death there....

What about it ?!

Great if that is what most people people buy. I believe even the quiet ones are still quite polluting though. I was just thinking in terms of things we do purely for pleasure that have a proportionately negative impact.

    • The Post Office has been heading for extinction since James Barber’s Lib Dems split it away from Royal Mail so that they could sell off the latter on the cheap. We’ve all been paying the price of that decision with closure of Silvester Road and the dreadful deterioration in the postal service locally.

    • A franchise Post Office is in fact a sub Post Office. It isn't able to provide the same services as the current Crown Post Office on Lordship Lane. Things like Road Tax, Passports, etc are not allowed via sub Post Offices. Likely the staff wont be transferred across as their hourly rate would decrease. It may be the hours of operating will increase. Crown Post Office staff are often unionised, sub Post Office staff are not usually unionised. Franchise sub Post Office commission for completing the various services is lower than for Crown Post Offices.
