Who is the administrator and why is it impossible to get in touch with them?!

Recommended Posts

mashcov you may be confusing the Administrator with a Moderator.

Whilst the Administrator has final say on content (as he created, maintains and pays for the site), the majority of the work nourishing this happy community resource is done by Moderators.

These are a group of generous, tireless and dedicated volunteers who set themselves the not unreasonable target of doing what's best for the community.

That means that certain types of behaviour are considered unacceptable, and it may be that your previously liberal use of ALL CAPITALS and aggressive use of the 'C' word means you haven't worked out where those boundaries lie.

That may account for your deleted thread, any 'investigations' you choose to indulge in will teach you nothing more than that ;-)

I'm sure he's quaking in his boots.

As others have said (but you apparently chose to ignore), he's just a guy doing this for free, he owes you zilch.

In general the moderators do so with a very light touch - posts are removed which are offensive or may be deemed libellous or sub-judice, threads are removed when they are seen as being off-topic (i.e. not really to do with ED), threads are blocked/ removed (mainly blocked) when a similar thread is already alive, threads are shifted to other boards when they are not appropriate for the board they have been posted on (typically this covers ads and announcements of events etc. on this board). Spam advertising is also removed.

Sometimes the moderators do think a thread is off topic when others (particularly the OP) don't - and they have been known to revise their decisions, but in general, as I said, they offer a very light touch.

Often, I guess, their actions are triggered by reports by other readers, but they won't remove posts/ threads (if they meet other criteria) simply because they, or someone else, disagrees with them, at least in my experience.

I'm very keen to know how you plan to investigate further though.

Are you going to use a laser beam to turn yourself in to particles, then travel the world wide web seeking answers?

    • Most charity shops will take rags for textile recycling. I’ve also donated to Christopher’s, Shelter on LL and Scope in Camberwell. The only one I’ve known to refuse is the Oxfam in Herne Hill.
    • We hired Hanson &Co to handle painting, floor sanding and general renovation work before moving into our new home, and we were very happy with the results. Andras and his team were fantastic to work with—professional, reliable, and efficient. We've since reached out to them for additional projects and we highly recommend their work!
    • Lost oyster card in black and green wallet somewhere between the bus stop at ED station, the bus and the train from Denmark Hill to Clapham Junction. Very annoying not last because I love the wallet.
    • I have always taken mine to the main St Christopher's shop, in a bin bag clearly marked "Rags". They have always accepted them. Clean items only, obviously.
