Recommending plumber Paul

The short of it: if you have any job that requires a plumber, I highly recommend Paul (07974 755732) for being very professional, honest, friendly, and timely. I called him after my boiler broke and I found myself searching ED forums for a recommendation. (Thank you to those who wrote about Paul already!)

The long version: I have a Remeha boiler, about two weeks ago it was showing an error and completely switched off. No heating or hot water. I called Paul and he was able to come around the following evening. Much appreciated that he was alright coming just after office hours.

For a 70 pound call out fee he inspected the boiler, ran a bunch of checks, and cleaned a tube that looked to be causing the problem.

Unfortunately the boiler broke again a few hours later, but as you will find if you google it, an E5 error on a Remeha boiler has thwarted many a highly trained plumber.

I informed Paul that the error was showing again and he immediately offered to come around the again the very next day. He also called the boiler company to get their take on why the boiler was failing given that he had followed all the steps he was meant to for that error. They recommended a part they thought needed replacing.

New part goes in. More checks. Paul doesn't charge anything to come out again. And the boiler breaks a few hours later.

Paul calls the company again, and is very apologetic to me. Comes out for go number three, more parts as recommended by the manufacturer, still doesn't charge me.

And yes, there was a time number four. With yet another part. Still no additional charge from Paul, who bless him was trying everything.

At that point, the parts were going to start costing more (up until then I'd spent 70 for the call out + 5 + 30 + 30 on parts) so it was better to call out the manufacturer of said boiler, which I had thus far resisted because their minimum charge was in the hundreds, and I had more faith in Paul than them.

They replaced the remaining (expensive) parts and as best I can tell either the boiler was installed poorly, or there's something about the drainage that isn't working quite right. At present the boiler is working.

Anyhow, I greatly admire Paul for having several goes at fixing this bothersome contraption, for keeping at the boiler manufacturers, for not charging me beyond the initial call out fee, for being very punctual, and for having the patience to answer my questions about boiler parts and mechanics. I've learned a hell of a lot.

Again, I'd like to emphasis that this error (E5) causes problems for everyone who tries to tackle it, best I can tell. I can't imagine how much money I'd be down if I'd had a dishonest plumber overcharging me or pretending that they new exactly what expensive thing was needed. Thank goodness for the honest guys!!!

If I ever have need of a plumber in the future, Paul will be the first and only guy I call. I highly recommend you do so too.

Thank you, Paul!
