akc74
I'm interested in understanding the preferred methods of transport, particularly in Yr 7 from kids living at the Peckham Rye end of East Dulwich. For now my son is signed up to the school bus, which seems to work quite well in the morning. After school you seem to have sit and wait for 30-40 minutes before it leaves, though.Cycling seems the way forward, I think we need to build his confidence a bit and then aim to switch to that. Thanks in advance for any experiences. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/293254-travelling-to-and-from-kingsdale-peckham-rye/ Share on other sites
Renata Hamvas
I think kids walk up to the top of the hill (Forest Hill Rd) and take the P4 from there. sunbob
They could cycle up Friern Rd, walk across lordship lane, cycle through Dulwich Park then the pavements are shared (A205 past Dulwich College, up round the corner etc). theratprincess
Our Y7 takes the 363 to near the Woodhouse Pub and goes down the walkway to Sydenham Hill Station railway bridge or gets off at the Dome Hill Park stop and walks down Rock Hill. Then walks through the estate and comes out at back of the school. They?re looking at doing the above cycle route too. stellakis
Hi, my son gets the coach in from Nunhead - occasionally when he doesn?t want to wait for the coach to leave he?ll just walk home - through Dulwich Park, down Barry Road and through Peckham Rye.. pleasant enough and good exercise :) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/293254-travelling-to-and-from-kingsdale-peckham-rye/#findComment-1535074 Share on other sites

Gubodge
One of mine has always cycled, meeting up with a group of her friends at the library before heading across the park. The other originally took the P13, then the 363/Rock Hill route. Since Covid she?s been walking, which takes about the same time as the bus. Cycling?s definitely quickest, and with pannier bags or a basket they?re not lugging their bags quite as far which I?m sure is better for their backs. BellendenBear
My daughter (year 8) cycles too. On days when she had too much to carry she gets the train from Peckham Rye to Gipsy Hill.
