Hi there, we just came back from an amber list country and now on our day 2 of 10 days quarantine which will be reduced to 5 days because we opted for a test and release. We sent the day 2 test today.

Yesterday though my father in law was rushed and admitted to hospital and he is seriously ill now and because his age (92 yrs) is at risk of dying.

Is there any way we could go back while in quarantine? Any lawyer our there who could give us any advices.

Much appreciated

Anna

I'm sorry to hear this, and I can't help with the query, but do you mean you need to go back to the country you have just travelled from?

Sorry to hear that.

No legal advice but here are links to government sites that may be useful. It may be possible for one person to get an exemption to quarantine here https://www.gov.uk/guidance/exemptions-from-managed-quarantine-for-medical-and-compassionate-reasons#compassionate-reasons. It sounds like there will need to be travel to another country so the restrictions there will also need to be checked in case they have changed since you last arrived. If you speak the language and can check the countries site, if not FCO info is here https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice

    • As a result of the Horizon scandal it now seems very clear that the Post Office management are highly disingenuous and not be trusted!  There needs to be a campaign launched to challenge the threatened closure, unless the Post Office can demonstrate beyond doubt that the branch is loss making - and even then it could argued that better management could address this. I hope the local media take this up and our MP  and a few demonstrations outside wouldn’t do any harm. Bad publicity can be very effective!
    • Unlikely. It would take a little more than a bit of Milton to alter the pH of eighty-odd thousand gallons of water.
    • It actually feels as though what I said is being analytically analysed word by word, almost letter by better. I really don't believe that I should have to explain myself to the level it seems someone wants me to. Clearly someones been watching way too much Big Brother.
    • Sadly they don't do the full range of post office services
