This week (Sept 4th) we have one Southwark Healthy Ride planned. We hope to be able to offer a second short ride later. Registration on Eventbrite as usual. When you register on Eventbrite, link details below, please give a phone number as it may be needed for Track and Trace. If you cannot make it, please cancel so that someone else can take the place.

Dulwich to Morden Hall Park

A new challenge for Healthy Riders, heading further into southwest London than ever before. Start 9.30 (NOTE earlier time), Dulwich Clock Caf?, Dulwich Park, SE21 7BQ. Back at Dulwich Park for 1pm. Outward route via Brockwell Park, Clapham Common and Wandsworth Common to Earlsfield (mostly LCN25). Join the Wandle Trail and follow this largely off-road route to Morden Hall Park. This is National Trust, but the grounds and, importantly, the Tea Room or open to the public. Coffee break there. Return route follows Wandle trail back to Colliers Wood, then takes the more direct Cycleway 7 along the A24. Not so scenic, but cycle lanes and other protection have been improved in recent years. At Clapham Common rejoin the outward route (LCN25) back to Dulwich Park via Herne Hill. About 18 miles, some hills, nothing severe. Jean and John leading. Route at https://www.strava.com/activities/5690167719.

We will keep everyone as safe as possible by observing all the Covid Regulations. Even with the relaxation of the rules it is still a good idea to routinely keep a 2m social distance, never less than 1m. Particularly important to maintain social distancing from other users on shared paths. Always give way to pedestrians and to other cyclists so all path users can maintain 1-2 m and feel safe. Bring a face mask as it may be useful, for example to get refreshments at a caf? stop. Please do not turn up to this event if you are displaying symptoms of Covid-19.

These rides are arranged and led by Bruce Lynn and friends on behalf of Southwark Cyclists. We are the borough branch of the London Cycling Campaign. Our website is here: [southwarkcyclists.org.uk] and the LCC website is here: [www.lcc.org.uk]. Like everything we do the rides are free and open to everyone. • The problem is Starmer can't shut up about his dad being a tool maker, they made Keir,  a right prize tool. Reeves continually blames the previous Govt, but correct me if I'm wrong but inflation was decreasing, unemployment was stagnant, with decreases and the occasional increase, things were beginning to stabalise overall.    Then we had the election 4 July when Starmer and co swept to power, three months on things are worse than they were before, yet Reeves continues to blame the former Govt. The national debt doubled overnight with public sectors all getting a wage increase and now the budget that penalises business with the increase in Employers national insurance. The result of which will be increased prices in the shops, increased inflation, increased numbers of redundancies, increased unemployment and increased pressures on the DWP to fund this    Future growth will go backwards and become negative, farmers will no longer farm in protest against the Govt, more people will become poorer and unable to pay their bills, things will spiral out of control and we'll have a repeat of the General Strike until this bunch of inept politicians resign and Kemi and co prevent the ship from hitting the iceberg and sinking.
    • Indeed so.  Just noting there are other options and many children and indeed young adults may well be perplexed and/or irritated by a cheque.
    • My experience of the CT is that when they screw up, their first instinct is to cover up. They are also shameless liars.
    • And that's your choice, but it's not everyone's choice.  Some people don't like or can't do what you do.
