I went to Peckham Manor School in the late 60's and early 70's and many of the lads in my years were Millwall supporters, most were decent lads. A few, who shall remain nameless and couldn't fight their way out of a wet paper bag, decided to adopt the herd mentality and go to the games and pretend to be hard men by hiding in amongst the other cave men. Most of these guys were pussys at school and were frightened of their own shadows. These are probably the same pr**ks that caused the ugly scenes at Wembley. So very brave. Yet again you have lived up to all we've come to expect from you. Tossers.

And this is based on what exactly?

20-30 violent so-called Millwall fans out of 32,000.

So 31,970 behaved themselves.

A regular gate of 8,000 that sees no trouble at all.

Just a small minority of people out to cause trouble are not true fans anyway.

But lets all jump on the bandwagon & slag off the team & their supporters because everybody loves to hate Millwall.

If the fighting had been between Wigan fans, it would hardly have got a mention.

Now I have had a good think. 30 odd thousand there, more than twice the core suport, and a 5.30 start. Oh what a surprise. But to put it into perspective this was nowt like the scrapping that went on in the terraces we saw when the London clubs came up the midlands from the mid 70s onwards - most of it for pose value rather than the more nasty stuff.

My first recollection of big trouble was the red army in 75 when there was 100 odd arrests outside the ground and a similar number when 20,000 Geordies (now there was an away support) turned up.

More bother in Streatham, or Bromley on a Friday night that at Wembley on Sat.

I could have saved myself two mins by simply agreeing with Aquarius. I blame the ghost of Thatcher for all this over-reaction. I doubt whether it was well stewarded or policed. Most grounds try to do without cops due to the expense (they came free in the old days). Hence stewards (my faves for paramilitary are at Spurs) are well ready for a bit of aggro. Not Wembley by the sound of things.

PS I hate the new Wembley even more than the old. It is shte for semis, although the Manc C vs Chels sort of proved me wrong on that.

Sad thing is, Millwall as a club do amazing community work. My son plays at one or two of their training nights in our area, and during the school holidays.

Would I want him to support the team or watch them play home or away.

Millwall have had a history of this going back to the 30's I believe so it's hardly a new thing. As for tarring all with same brush, not all, some are decent people, but it's the tossers that grab the headlines. And just to show some balance here, I'd like to know hwo decided the cameras should be pointed at these arseholes, normally the commentators just tell the watching millions that there's some trouble going on in the crowd but the cameras are never pointed in that direction. Conspiracy theorists will now run amok no doubt.

I love how Barry Hearn attempted to blame the FA for the late kick off and the police for not intervening quickly enough. Absolute tool.

Where is the personal responsibility?

Did you need to spend 6 hours before kick-off getting sh*t-faced and then decide to take it out on other fans? Anyone force you to do that? And why does this behaviour not happen at other clubs who seemingly manage to play football in the early evening without kick seven shades of shite out of each other?

Aquarius moon is absolutely right.

Our normal gate is around 9,000 - 10,000 including our Visitors.

Millwall has approx 6,000 Season ticket holders.

I doubt if the trouble makers were S.T Holders.

These are the same people that turn up at peaceful Demos and cause trouble.

The same people that riot and loot shops.

We had a problem at Millwall a few seasons ago with a Birmingham game..

The Trouble makers were a group of Brokers (well respected) ?? from Kent.

With respect to the late Kick Off.. Wembley kept the Bar Open throughout the first half

and did not stop people taking alcohol into the seating area.

Mind you, turfing out time at Lords witnesses quite a few people who have been drinking for about 7 hours, some looking decidedly unsteady, and much booze consumed at seats.

I've yet to see any violence though.

Likewise Twickenham.

They call it the British disease, yet it happens at football matches world wide. In the preceeding 72 hours there was violence in Germany where Bayern Munich fans fought those of Nuremberg with 60 arrested and 16 police injured whilst in Brazil two were shot dead at a venue of next year's World Cup.

Perhaps it is just a football disease?

I cannot think of another high-profile sport that witnesses such levels of anti-social and violent behaviour from fans?

Unfortunately I know several Millwall 'fans' and they're mostly beer bellied bald headed tatooed uneducated drug taking yobs. But I'm generalising, some are thin. I've also been to the Den a few times and think the football at Dulwich Hamlet is more skilful and entertaining.
