As it goes past a school, LBS could apply the Village approach and stop all car traffic during school rush hours, especially as it is a side street and cars can use many other routes including LL and CPR. But that doesn?t apply in ED of course ?.

The tree pits on Cyrena, near to the 5 Month Zebra Crossing, are tatty and full of dog crud, so I have emailed the tree section at the council asking them to clean and plant soonest. If you are a dog owner, don't think that because it is a patch of soil that you can leave pooch poo there - you shouldn't because it is tacky and unsanitary. If I catch you I'll rub your nose in it!
That whole area has a problem with dog poo, there?s clearly someone who walks that patch regularly and feels at liberty to leave their mess behind. It?s all up Fellbrigg too. Apparently spraying it with a brightly coloured spray paint puts some people off doing it (eco, temporary stuff of course).

Hi all,

The crossing on Whateley Road was a project that I worked on with parents and governors from Harris and Heber School. It's there to make the school run safer for children from both schools. Until reading this thread, I'd only ever received positive feedback on it. If there are any issues please let me know and I will see what I can do.

As for dog mess, if there are areas with a particular problem please email me at [email protected] and I can look into getting it sorted.

Best wishes

James

It took ages to be installed and then when the workmen arrived, there were long delays. I am sure it was worth the wait, just about, but I would prefer the trees/plants to be planted up as part of one big task. They are a right mess and people will just think they're there to let their dogs crap in and/or a place for fly tipping.

It?s awful walking along that side of Whateley Rd nice you cross over from Fellbrigg side. So much dog poo along the middle of the path, most days when taking my child to school, I?m having to dodge poo with buggy and small child. I?ve seen countless times children running along and straight into the poo, not realising and becoming extremely upset. It?s not nice having to them go to school and clean your shoes.

It?s does appear very deliberate, the dog owners fully aware school nearby and lots of kids, buggies, scooters, people rushing along that footpath.

Shame on you!

    • Not sure about changing hands but the Peckham Rye one is open and hasn’t had any random closures. Our child is very happy there but there was a resolved Ofsted complaint half way through last year.  Things don’t look good for the Devon nursery owned by the same company - looks like loads of issues with Ofsted which can be seen in its latest report.
    • I was in Forest Hill Road today, just past the Rye, and noticed there is a dentist next to the Herne (pub) that has NHS signs outside. I've never had any problems getting NHS dental treatment in East Dulwich, and I get regular check ups. I've been to three  different dental practices here over the years, all with NHS treatment. I think the difficulties are in other parts of the country. Malumbu has a good explanation above. I didn't hear the Radio 4 programme, but I'm guessing that a  radio programme is not going to have time to say where you CAN easily get NHS treatment, and is bound to focus on the negatives and the horror stories, otherwise it would be very boring! ETA: Re children's teeth, I think the major issue is not lack of dentists, it is children being given sugary food, drinks and confectionery which rots their teeth. The education of parents needs to be about this, not just about tooth brushing. And in some cases the poor diet may also be due to lack of money for healthy food. Though of course the lack of dentists doesn't help, if  the tooth rotting can't be rectified by fillings or extraction.
    • Well, I hope you like what you see, the hot air, lack of answers and continual blaming things on the last Government and the made up blackhole, I find are nauseating. The man needs to see reality, because I'd guess that if we had a snap election tomorrow and based on the first six months of this parliament, Labour would get trounced. When the election does finally happen and if that isn't before the people rise up and throw this lot out, Labour will not be voted back in for a millennium.
