Next Saturday we have just one Southwark Healthy Ride for the Bank Holiday weekend. Registration on Eventbrite as usual. When you register on Eventbrite, link details below, please give a phone number as it may be needed for Track and Trace. If you cannot make it, please cancel so that someone else can take the place.

Peckham to Greenwich Festival via 7 Finest Views of S.E. London

Easy-paced 8 mile ride to be led by Jamie with, as the title says, great views. 10am start at Peckham Square, next to Peckham Library and Peckham Pulse Leisure Centre (SE15 5RY). Finish at Cutty Sark to allow those who wish to enjoy the Greenwich Festival in all its gastronomical and artistic splendour. Look out for the "We are watching" flag that will be flying on its 10 storey flag pole by the Royal Naval College (see https://wearewatching.org/). Route: Brockley / Hilly Fields / Brookmill Park / Blackheath / Greenwich Park Observatory / National Maritime museum /Cutty Sark. Mostly using quiet back roads or paths. The idea will be to spend a few minutes at each viewpoint. Not too sure about timing, but should be at Greenwich in well within 3 hours. Previously ridden 22 May 2021. Short report at https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/healthy-rides/healthy-ride-reports-2021/the-7-finest-views-of-se-london/

NOTE. There will be no led ride back. A suggested quiet return route to Peckham is on Google Maps at https://bit.ly/3AUs51B

We will keep everyone as safe as possible by observing all the Covid Regulations. Even with the relaxation of the rules it is still a good idea to routinely keep a 2m social distance, never less than 1m. Particularly important to maintain social distancing from other users on shared paths. Always give way to pedestrians and to other cyclists so all path users can maintain 1-2 m and feel safe. Bring a face mask as will be needed on DLR and cable car and if you want to get refreshments at the caf? stop). Obviously please do not turn up to this event if you are displaying symptoms of Covid-19.

hese rides are arranged and led by Bruce Lynn and friends on behalf of Southwark Cyclists. We are the borough branch of the London Cycling Campaign. Our website is here: [southwarkcyclists.org.uk] and the LCC website is here: [www.lcc.org.uk]. Like everything we do the rides are free and open to everyone. • The problem is Starmer can't shut up about his dad being a tool maker, they made Keir,  a right prize tool. Reeves continually blames the previous Govt, but correct me if I'm wrong but inflation was decreasing, unemployment was stagnant, with decreases and the occasional increase, things were beginning to stabalise overall.    Then we had the election 4 July when Starmer and co swept to power, three months on things are worse than they were before, yet Reeves continues to blame the former Govt. The national debt doubled overnight with public sectors all getting a wage increase and now the budget that penalises business with the increase in Employers national insurance. The result of which will be increased prices in the shops, increased inflation, increased numbers of redundancies, increased unemployment and increased pressures on the DWP to fund this    Future growth will go backwards and become negative, farmers will no longer farm in protest against the Govt, more people will become poorer and unable to pay their bills, things will spiral out of control and we'll have a repeat of the General Strike until this bunch of inept politicians resign and Kemi and co prevent the ship from hitting the iceberg and sinking.
    • Indeed so.  Just noting there are other options and many children and indeed young adults may well be perplexed and/or irritated by a cheque.
    • My experience of the CT is that when they screw up, their first instinct is to cover up. They are also shameless liars.
    • And that's your choice, but it's not everyone's choice.  Some people don't like or can't do what you do.
