Ladygooner
Does anyone else think it is anti social for someone to be putting nail varnish on whilst on the train? The smell is not nice and I doubt they will get a good finish whilst the train is in motion! Saffron
Possibly somewhat annoying, but not as bad as the lady I saw read a newspaper, then LICK each of her fingers and rub them together to take off the ink stain! Give me the nail varnisher over that any day. Hey maybe I can get a quick touch-up on my nails too? Otta
I find it very od when women are making themselves up on the train or bus. Equally, I've seen men get battery powerred razors out in the past, and that is just minging! Chillaxed
Not on as it stinks and irritates. As does a man or woman with too much perfume. Which you can't really call someone out on. Tricky.Worst I saw (or initially heard) was the rythmic 'click, click' of a nail clipper on the top deck of a bus. I turned toward the sound hoping that at least it was fingernails. It wasn't; dude had his shoes and socks off and was clipping his toenails. I walked over to him and just stared at him with the best look of contempt I could muster. He stopped. giggirl
What is it about the Eurostar? Every single time I get on it there's some floozy putting on nail varnish. You're right; it's anti-social. The smell carries and the windows are closed. edcam
Unacceptable. As is applying make-up, brushing hair, speaking loudly on your mobile phone, texting with the "beeps" switched on on your mobile keypad. I'm sure there are many more things but I'll only wind myself up. *Bob*
Don't forget breathing. And moving. And sitting, of course. That's annoying too. Seriously, there are worse things that happen on public transport than someone putting lippy on or whatever. Is it really necessary to be so massively uptight about, well, EVERYTHING? *Bob*
I try not to go on public transport too much. It's full of people who secretly hate their own lives - and manifest their secret hatred by getting disproportionately annoyed by the relatively inconsequential actions of others. Otta
Not moving on as soon as you step off the escalator has consequences!I do hate myself though, can't argue with that. LondonLogCo
I'm pretty easygoing, if something irks me I moveBut two junkies jacking up on the 176 one Friday, during rush hour, took the biscuit. Added to that everyone one the bus pretended not to notice. *Bob*
Jacking-up.. That sounds fair enough. The big question is: were they brushing their hair? Saffron
Not sure why make-up bothers people? Make-up can be applied quietly, doesn't smell, and doesn't leave anything behind like brushing hair or clipping nails. Seriously it's all relative, isn't it? I'd rather sit next to someone applying eyeliner than picking his/her nose -- both of which I've seen in abundance. I now have this image of you standing staring and he, frozen mid-clip, looking up at you with a mixture of guilt and anger on his face, the showdown music from The Good The Bad and The Ugly playing as the wind whistles through the top deck and passengers hurtle headlong down the stairway... the silence broken by a kindly female voice "One Seven Six... to... LondonLogCo
I'm guilty of train misdemeanours myself tho.Once, a long time ago, when trains were single cartridge slam door types. I was entertains a lovely Lady .The train could take 25+ minutes to pull into the last stop, often waiting out in the middle of nowhere on a signal - junction.Though this night as the train rolled and creaked to a gentle halt, it stopped bang on outside of the lone manned signal box, giving the guy inside a full on eyeful of the proceedings. KidKruger
For me people can do ALL this on trains and I don't care - as long as they just move down the fecking train when people are trying to get on.Biggest etiquette failure of all IMO. Everything else is fluff by comparison. If they don't move down so that you can get on, you won't see the fluff anyway. And people always look so surprised / offended, "oh look there's people trying to get on at this station, how weird".
