Fly tipping

Hey guys,

I just want to know whether or not fly tipping is becoming a problem in the area?

I've noticed recently instances of this anti social behaviour in and around my road.

Let me know your thoughts.

I see it a lot on Underhill (opposite the chippy), Crystal Palace Rd (opposite the nursery), and Colyton/Homestall junction.

All dark or with cover locations perfect for overnight tipping.

Not sure it?s worse in pandemic, seems pretty consistent unfortunately !

If you know who is doing this, please report it to the council.

They have special investigation teams (as seen on tv documentaries) and will peruse the person involved as it is a crime to fly tip.

Corner of Lytcott/Melbourne and Lytcott opposite Alleyn?s. Always something dumped in both locations.

New things almost monthly dumped outside my property, on Crystal Palace road. After chatting to some neighbours, we seem to know who the culprit is so will report to the council as they?ve seen him loading the van and coming back empty shortly after!

Some issues at Horniman end of Underhill. Recently Bradbury Oak House put up a no flytipping sign and I have noticed something outside the White Gothic House opposite BOH in the last couple of days.

Or they could pay to dispose of commercial waste like legitimate tradespeople do. Trying to blame Southwark for not subsidising their business to justify anti-social and criminal behaviour is a terrible excuse. I hope whoever your ?friend? is gets caught and prosecuted.

I?ve had a neighbour fly tipping into my garden. Unbelievable. Not sure what to do.

Langton Rise by the cemetery, although not since Thames Water have blocked one of the lanes! As per alex-b I expect most of this is dodgy businesses eg tyres and builders waste and we should not make excuses for them by blaming local authorities.

Hi, I use fixmystreet.com (and the app on my phone) to report flytipping. Not only does it flag for the council to collect, but it allows the council to have real time data for trending purposes and to use for ongoing developments and waste disposal support. My old council (Sevenoaks) were brilliant at collecting once flagged. Just a thought.

Southwark Council have put up a no fly tipping sign on the wall where the majority of fly tipping in this street is done. Not made any difference whatsoever unfortunately.

Is it linked to cctv? Can?t imagine people take any notice unless it seems likely they will be caught.

Someone around the corner told me the bags of rubbish outside my neighbour’s house one morning had blown there when I went to the address I’d found in refuse in one of said bins….!

My 'friend' continues to fly tip industrial waste and is yet to get even close to being caught. In fact, with all these cuts to services and councils, its actually getting easier to dump your rubbish as there is less money for enforcement.

 

Someone told me the other day that it costs businesses £100 for every visit to the official tip.

He knows a plumber who just takes his bits of pipe etc home and puts them in his green bin.

Or, presumably, his blue bin if the bits are metal.
