Thank you RNLI

From: Nick Lowles

'I can?t believe I need to say this, Ilona, but apparently it needs saying.

The RNLI are heroes and their selfless service around the coast is something we should all be grateful for.

This needs saying now because of a vile campaign to demonise people who are seeking to cross the channel in search of safety and a better life. Some far right activists and media bigmouths are so determined to make people angry about these people that they?ve even attacked the RNLI for rescuing people at sea when they?re in trouble.

It?s disgusting and we can?t let it go unanswered. That?s why we?re saying we stand with the RNLI. Can you share our graphic on social media and add your own words of thanks to build up a wall of hope to drown out the haters?

The plight of people seeking to get to Britain, to register as refugees, to try and build a better life, is desperate. The numbers of people trying to cross the channel are higher than in the past but still incredibly low. The campaign of harassment and abuse against these people is stomach-turning.

We?ve been quietly working behind the scenes to track and disrupt these far right activists and supporting the work of migrant charities. But now the campaign of vilification is breaking into the media, we must speak out.

Please add your voice on social media to defend the RNLI, and to say there?s no such thing as an ?illegal? human.

Thank you.

Nick

I don't think it's racist behaviour by Nigel Farage as you have stated.

Regular RNLI subscribers have also cancelled their donations too.

The RNLI owes Nigel thanks then for the publicity.

    • Sorry to hear this - I hope they get the power back on soon for those affected on a night like tonight.

    • Agree and that is due to the echo-chamber nature of social media algorithms. Previously racists and other idiots wouldn't read stuff in traditional media that echoed their warped mindset but now they feel empowered because they think everyone thinks this and can easily reach those that do share the same ideology. Cast your mind back to how Blackberry Messenger was blamed for its role in the London riots back in 2011. We now have that a thousand times worse.
