I know we had heavy rain yesterday but I'm surprised by the flooding .Perhaps the rain was significantly heavier in Eg Camberwell and Battersea than we had in ED ?

I'm wondering if drains were blocked ,possibly the recent dry spell meant a build up of debris that regular rain would flush down ,and if this was a factor .

I feel sure ( often wrong when I feel like that ! ) we've had similar downpours in the past which haven't resulted in this degree of flooding .

What do others think ? Oh ,and I understand about the heat meeting the cooler air and climate change .

Re drains - many drains have been blocked for ages. Some were unblocked, perhaps because I had reported them, but some remain clogged up. Same in Westminster, so don't blame it entirely on the downpour itself. Sure, that had lots to do with it, but if the drains aren't unblocked that must have an impact on whether or not there are floods.
Bigmacca - I have seen them but curiously only a week or so after I had told the council about problem drains (as shown by massive puddles after heavy rain). Perhaps they are busy everywhere else. A policy of cleaning twice a year would seem at least possibly a good idea, though I don't know whether this is actually the case already.

    • Highly recommend landscape gardener Jasper Davis. Jasper designed and built me a bespoke summer house.  He also transformed my garden including natural paving/sleepers and planting. Can't recommend him enough.IMG_9568.HEIC Contact Jasper on 07966 251778

    • I don't think so, sadly. The Zenoria Street indoor market failed to take off and generally speaking traders at Christmas Fairs and Farmers Markets are reporting that it isn't worth their while now. If you go to North Cross Road, the vast majority of visitors are only buying the street food! It was the same when I went to the Horniman Sunday market and second hand market yesterday. With the lack of footfall I couldn't understand how any of the traders could be making any money.
