Fitness Tips (Personal Trainer Gokay, GokFitness personal training)

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I keep hearing this a lot, so I wanted to share a Myth with you!

If you stop training, your muscles will turn into fat.

No, they won?t!

Yes, you will lose your muscle mass if you reduce or stop working out and you might also gain fat tissue at the same time. But muscle would never turn into fat.

They are Completely two different Types of Cells.

To stop muscle loss and fat gain, you need to keep active with a healthy diet all the time.

It?s like practising a Language. If you stop speaking French, you will forget it!

Yes, you can drink alcohol and still lose weight.

But, would you rather use your limited amount of calories on alcohol or on more nutritious food?

Yes, moderation is important and I know most people enjoy a drink or two but if your goal is weight loss, I suggest you stop or dramatically reduce alcohol for a certain period of time.

Remember, this won?t be forever and you can enjoy drinking as soon as you achieve your goal!

I'm doing 30 mins peloton bike a day and now have started doing the strength classes too - I didn't realise what a difference these little (1.5Kg) weights and balance exercises on the floor and standing can do.

Still have a couple of cans of Brewdog in the evening but nothing like pre lockdown. Losing weight and toning a bit (I fit into a suit from 10 years ago).

Success

If you start working out today, your body will not get in shape next week.

You do need to put in the efforts; success will come.

Because success is the sum of small efforts.

1) Be consistency,

2) Celebrate your achievements, even if they are small,

3) Track your progress

If you haven't made progress for several weeks, something is not right, so you need to find out where you were going wrong.

No contest

Edit: actually cut alcohol a lot since the lockdowns - but still do sacrifice a little food for a drink :)

    • Hi everyone, we are trying to finslise our decision for enrolling our son for 3+ from September and currently considering Dulwich Prep or Herne Hill. We like both and appreciate there is no right or wrong answer but what we like about HH is great focus on early years and also being coed. However if we can avoid the 7+ stress then prefer to do that. Dulwich Prep is closer but the difference is not significant. we know children are very active and busy in DP and they have great facilities, but unlike HH, we don’t know much about their focus on personal development and emotional intelligence, etc! Also not sure about long-term impact of being in boys only school. Difficult decision for us and we appreciate feedback from parents if you can share please.    thank you
    • Yeah that was their old policy. Their new policy is to force you to have a water meter and if you refuse they put you on a punitively high tariff which effectively forces you to have one. I was doing well with my policy of polite resistance which was to say yes fine I'll have one fitted but then not actually book an appointment or cancel the appointments they made. But then I was persuaded that it would be much cheaper anyway.
    • Lots of lovely lilac shrubs in flower at the moment. Would anyone consider giving me a cutting? It would involve digging out a basal off shoot, roots and all. I'd love one for my new garden but I'm so broke that I have to fill it with plants the slow way!
    • You are welcome to have mine for free. I was just about to post! Three panels - 6ft by 5ft - weathered/natural on one side and painted brown on the other.
