Vintage Dressing Table 1890s TAKEN

Recommended Posts

Solid wood dressing table with mirror. Label shows it was from Oetzmann & Co on the Harrow Road (and cost 26 shillings!). From style, I guess it is 1890s. Top and mirror need screwing on (there are holes for screws but I took them out so it would be easier to move).

Width 50cm, length 107cm, height without mirror 73.5cm, height with mirror 160cm

The varnish has been stripped, however, I sent a remaining bit on the back to a lab and found it contains low levels of lead (500ppm) which I guess would have penetrated into the wood. This is relatively low (home lead tests only test positive at 5000ppm and above) but I would advise painting it to seal in the lead and be safe.

Most furniture coatings up till the 1980s/1990s contain lead.

Collect from Crystal Palace Road, near North Cross Road.

At the end of the month we will have an accompanying app that shows you how to use what they have safely a measure progress. I’ve seen the same people as before of all ages and abilities. Don’t write it off out of hand. It’s an amazing resource that many other boroughs would be proud to have
