ianr
> Is there a Dominic Cummings translator> in the house, what's the trolleys for ?"Dominic Cummings has hit out at Boris Johnson?s indecisiveness and described him as ?a shopping trolley smashing from one side of the aisle to the other? as a part of a blistering attack on his apparent inability to lead the country as Prime Minister." https://www.cityam.com/indecisive-boris-johnson-a-shopping-trolley-smashing-between-aisles-says-cummings/ (26 May)Without having found this I'd have surmised DC meant something like "empty vehicle", "available to all", "gets filled up with whatever seems attractive or satisfying". Maybe those are to be found elsewhere in the corpus. missse22
Bloody animals , I know this family well they are former clients of mine and a really sweet family. This reminds me when a load of England fans smashed up IKEA when England beat Sweden in the 2018 World Cup , so so ashamed to be half English sometimes :-( Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/289029-a-few-drunk-loutish-england-fans-let-the-side-down-on-lordship-lane/page/4/#findComment-1524388 Share on other sites

DuncanW
NotImpressed is an inveterate Troll - that's for sure. It's a shame he or she doesn't seem to feel any sympathy for this family who clearly had an upsetting experience. There is nothing factually inaccurate in the post above though. There is often trouble at England matches, in and around the stadium and en route to and from. This trouble is by no means limited to England fans, but followers of our national team do seem to be amongst the more regular offenders. Add to the mix, the biggest fixture in recent times played at night, and the drinking that comes with that. When the Danish FA sought out ex-pats and their families to replace the normal Danish football fans who couldn't travel, perhaps they should have provided better advice. It's certainly freely available elsewhere: "You should avoid wearing football shirts or showing any kind of support for any football team because such shows of support might end violently since some rivalries are taken very seriously in the UK." from https://www.travelsafe-abroad.com/united-kingdom/The incident was a minor one. If the man felt he was assaulted, then that's a matter for the police (and there would be CCTV as it was on a bus) not really for a matter the national media. It seems the man himself and his boy recognise that saying "it was more annoying drunk fans than terror" Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/289029-a-few-drunk-loutish-england-fans-let-the-side-down-on-lordship-lane/page/4/#findComment-1524440 Share on other sites
JohnL
Well if they had held the matches in Cardiff away shirts would have been welcomed. It's brilliant having many different coloured shirts around of many nations enjoying themselves.I wouldn't wear a Swansea shirt in Cardiff obviously - that's the rivalry - but some do :)Anyway you can't blame a victim - it's preposterous that at the Euro2020 final a family can't support their team. It makes me furious as many smaller nations would love to showcase their cities in these finals. JohnL
And if Wales were in the semi final versus England at Wembley I'd wear my Wales shirt with prideactually in 2016 when we played England - I did - with no issues.Anyway - I bit - because I like wearing football and rugby shirts :) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/289029-a-few-drunk-loutish-england-fans-let-the-side-down-on-lordship-lane/page/4/#findComment-1524461 Share on other sites
DuncanW
Cardiff City have a notorious football firm (hooligan element) - they have intense and violent rivalries with Swansea and others. None of these would come out to welcome fans if England played in Cardiff??I've been away to Swansea and the fans (we met) couldn't have been nicer. I've also been out in Wine St, Swansea on a Saturday night when Swansea City had been promoted the same day. I was with family (no kids) and some friends from overseas. The atmosphere went from boisterous to edgy, quite quickly. I made the call that we shouldn't be there and we left promptly in a taxi. Most likely nothing would have happened... JohnL
Not sure - It isn't (wasn't - not been there for a long while) a football crowd - it's got lots of drinking too much and groups of people clash sometimes. If a Euro2020 match was held nearby (Cardiff) I'm absolutely sure the rival teams would be welcomed. JohnL
Maybe UEFA should award finals to the nations that win the fans award at the previous cup.and I heard about Cardiff in Bath and wasn't impressed - it seems to be a club thing though. malumbu
This is all getting rather sexist and racist, where are the pictures of the women involved? And ageist, hairist, beardist and tattooist.
