Rather unfair to base things on isolated incidents. John Lewis score 4 stars on Trust Pilot with most reviewers giving 5 but a sizeable number giving 1, from a quick look predominantly due to perceived poor customer service. I expect customer service has deteriorated due to staff cuts as it negotiates choppy water. Not as extreme as say BA who were exemplary but that was when they and other national airline had a virtual monopoly and charged accordingly before the budget airlines changed everything (and despite disappointment with BA customer service isn't nowhere near as awful as Ryanair.
Stick Tomy recommendation of JL for mattresses and others can do their own research and make their minds up accordingly.
