Hi all

Can you recommend a great accountant that can help me set up as a self employee, working from home. Having been PAYE for the last 15 years I've been offered full time freelance work and need to know what I need to do to make the most of my money.

- How I set myself up

- What I need to set aside for the taxman +NI

- what I can claim for etc.

Can you suggest anyone?

Really appreciate this x

Ryedalema,

I work from offices on Upland Road. You can read testimonials, recommendations and endorsements on my linked in profile

I provide accountancy services and related tax advice to the self employed and the initial meeting is free.

Hi Ryedalema,

Like you I was PAYE for many years before going freelance.

Have you tried the HMRC free half day sessions for the newly self employed? And lots of resources on line. It's pretty basic, but I found them useful. It's not the most exciting afternoons I've ever spent, but useful.

Also, WHSmith do a pack you can download or buy from the shop in Rye Lane.

My accounts seem to be fairly straightforward so I've not used an accountant, though I probably should work out the time I spent doing accounts vs paying someone to do it.
