Lovely Michael, and all the lovely forumites,

I have to say what a great year this has been because of this forum and also because of you my great forumite chums. I cannot tell you all how much I have enjoyed your company and sense of humour this year. I think that Mark should be Prime Minister (sniff)...

Here is your gift Michael -

*Shuffles in, frankly cream crackered. New Years in Berlin is anarchic in the extreme. Only dont get drawn into an "organised" event - disappointingly ... organised. Still, the late night walk through the streets would have been familiar to General Zukhov and the Red Army circa 1945. Great fun that bit*

*Its a cold winters evening, so produces a large steaming vat of Gluwein, a yummy sticky Stollen, home made ginger bread cookies and some foaming Steins of Schwartzerbier*

*Anybody? Its the Quiet Roon and real world NY resolutions and physical frailties do not apply*

  • 2 weeks later...

*Enters room and immediately trips over discarded hod*

*Sighs at how the room has fallen into disrepair and sneezes as dust gets up his nose*

*The sound echoes around the desolate darkness*

"Is anybody here?. . . here . . . here . . . here"

*Helps self to a cold glass of Gluwein, removes German porno DVD's from armchair and sits back and reads very thin issue of What's on in Camberwell*

DM!! Look at the mess in here - where is Anna? I know that she is now about 18 months pregnant, but really.

*Picks up mouldy german cake and drops it in bin - waves cheerily at Lozzyloz before collecting German porn DVDs and slipping them behind the bookcase*

*Walks to bar and pours self a pint of Banks Mild Ale, at least in the Quiet Room I can have a January pint*

* materialises by MPs side *

* nods appreciatively and takes virtual pint of cold, sparkling, refreshing lager *

* takes llooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnggggggg draught of said elixir *

AAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh.

* slowly but surely melts back into the ether *

*Klinks glass with MP and citizen ED*

*Attempts to do same with Mockney but he suddenly vaporises*

"Oh well. Cheers!"

*Dust's off one of Jah's Gladiators CD's and inserts into Libra's sound system*

*Watches with amusement as MP and citizen ED start skanking*

*Hopes DM doesn't complain about the noise*

*DM-Dread loves a bit of reggae and is often to be seen with large lumpy one dangling from her bottom lip*

*Pours self a large G&T - it is SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCH a long time before the end of the month*

*Waves at CitizenED - didnt see you there before dear boy*

    • Agree with @Sue the Dog is awful-nice building awful food. We like The Rossendale and Watsons
    • There are so many variables. Good chefs can having bad nights, post-Brexit staff shortages, your dish might be brilliant, your friend might order something that's inedible. In the end I think the best option is just to go to the restaurant which has the best overall reviews. If all the reviews are bad then avoid, but even if all the reviews are good that's not a cast iron gaurantee.
