gregring
As January is drawing to a close, I was wondering if anyone has stuck to their New Years resolutions?Do people still make New Years resolutions? bon3yard
No fags and no booze yet...which is probably why this month has seemed so interminably long and dull. gregring
Now that is willpower. Is it for the Dryatalon initiative?? I bet you're feeling better for it... Lowlander
Haven't made a resolution since 1995, when I resolved to stop making resolutions.January and February are such long and dark months that I wouldn't want to give up any vices! I take up excercise again around March and slow down before Christmas. Dallero
It's a really boring Resolution but I've finally taken the step (or rather leap) to drastically improve my fitness and hired a personal trainer and it's great! Probably the first Resolution that I've ever stuck to! Preston93
We've taken up healthy eating, must admit I cheat a bit, found a company on here 'Bamn Good Food' and they deliver healthy meals to my home. But we're sticking to our resolution and feeling good! TillieTrotter
Mine is to NEVER lend money to friends again. The old adage never a lender or a borrower be is a tried and tested one and I shall stick to it firmly. Jeremy
It's always seemed a bit arbitrary to me. If you want to do/change something, just do it. El Pibe
people like imposing arbitrary deadlines when attempting to do something they dont want to.They're also brillinat at ignoring them.THe oly way to really change is to actually want to, and if that's the case, like you say, why wait. I always say when it comes to money there is family and there is business, there is no such thing as friends. giggirl
I gave up alcohol on New Year's Eve but fell off the wagon a week ago. I climbed back on for the final stretch. I feel healthier not drinking but I do enjoy it. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/28571-new-years-resolutions/#findComment-612511 Share on other sites
Annette Curtain
I don't drink on a school night, it's way easier than the whole GIVING UP malarky.Certainly made the weekend more fun. Oh, and then I knocked Sunday drinking at home on the head.Which leaves Saturday as yeahhhh-have another-one-nite. Plus I tend to buy a much better quality wine for that.I think if you do really have something to give up, then dissemble it into smaller parts and deal with those. But if there's booze, drugs issues then seek professional help elsewhere. Google the Quantum Project in Lewisham if you're need. Not sure about the whole January thing tho, seems a bit Catholic to me. giggirl
Yes it is very Catholic. I'm already thinking that Lent is early this year and what to give up? I'm lapsed of course but old habits die hard. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/28571-new-years-resolutions/#findComment-612524 Share on other sites
