etta166
I'm expecting my third child at the moment, and we are trying to decide if we will use a third Tripp Trapp chair or not. If your children have grown out of theirs, what age were they when they stopped using it?My 3 year old still loves his, and isn't keen to use a grown-up chair at all, but will that suddenly change?? prickle
My daughter is 11 and is still using hers! She is small for her age and it still helps her to be the right height at the table. Pickle
My two older kids still use theirs at 6 and 4.5. We've ended up buying a basic Ikea highchair for #3 as I don't want 3 Tripp Trapps cluttering up the kitchen! Ondine
Yes - my 12 yr old still uses hers and we have the other one as a computer chair - adjusted them to adult sizes a few years ago and they are still great. I guess the only practical issue is their relatively big footprint Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/28515-tripp-trapp-advice/#findComment-611714 Share on other sites
etta166
Thanks all. Looks like it will be a third tripp trapp, then. I wonder if anyone is selling one at the moment? bluesuperted
I don't have one to sell but am going to wait and see with my 2.6year old and see if he still wants to use it at 3 and a bit - I think he probably will! However, I found the ikea antilop brilliant for early BLW anyway so I reckon no.2 will use that for a good few months before we need to shell out for another second hand TT! Pam50
Hi, As a literacy tutor and handwriting expert, can I recommend that you hang on to your Tripp Trapps! They are absolutely fantastic for children doing their homework. Ordinary tables and chairs are not at the right height for young children, but the adjustable height of the Tripp Trapp enables the elbows to be supported on the table and ensures that the lower body and feet are stable. Brilliant bit of kit! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/28515-tripp-trapp-advice/#findComment-611864 Share on other sites
lucyA1308
AS a diversion, but on similar topic ... my toddler moved onto a Tripp Trapp, when her little sister was ready for weaning, and went into the high chair. The little sister is now 1 and hates getting into the high chair, when she sees her big sister on the lovely Tripp Trapp. I am sure we will eventually get one for her, but I would rather wait until she can use it without the baby add on, so that I am not paying for all the extra kit which will only get used for a short while. At what age would people say they stopped needing to use the baby harness etc? Thanks Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/28515-tripp-trapp-advice/#findComment-612439 Share on other sites
etta166
I stopped needing the baby set (the bar and crotch strap) at around 14 months, as the guidance is that you stop using it once your child can climb in and out of the chair on their own. I never used the harness with my first child, but I still sometimes have to strap my almost 2 year old second child in as she just fidgets more than my son did.
