Car insurance - any recommendations?

We currently have a diesel Volvo estate which we will be selling in about a month but our insurance is up this week so we need to take out a policy then switch the details of the car when we get an different (petrol) car..

We're currently with Churchill who seem pretty expensive compared to the other quotes I've just got on 'Moneysupermarket.com' the new quotes (with the same info about our current car and drivers ) vary from ?250 - ?1600 so if anyone can recommend a good value and reliable insurer, please let me know asap thanks!

Was with Direct Line but left a few years ago after getting some points for a silly error, Direct Line have a big loading. I've got house insurance with Churchill so I am not anti Direct Line.
