If there's a range of porn options available surely anyone, man or woman - if they're inclined to look at porn, will gravitate to their fave turn-ons at some point or the areas that fascinate, but then also to areas they've not personally explored yet.

Women I know who hate porn (or the idea of it) generally do so from the viewpoint that it exploits women. However, there are some established female porn makers who seem to be more palatable to women for this particular reason. ie. by women for women kind of thang.

How common is women looking at porn ? Probably very difficult to determine..

Of course it also depends on how you define porn (and I'm not talking porn vs. erotica). From research I've done in the distant past, visual pornography is more of a male stimulus (and this is partially due to the paucity of what is available for straight women). However if you include literature, then it's obviously very common - as 50 Shades of Grey demonstrates!

Lots of women like porn. Lots of women don't like porn. Lots of women don't give a stuff either way. Quite a few women make porn.

Women aren't a homogeneous mass. We all like different things. There's nothing remotely unusual about her liking bdsm and wanting to watch it on film - take a look around the Coco de Mer website, or better still, have a read of Nancy Friday's books on women's sexual fantasies to get an idea of the diversity of women's tastes.

I think the reason I've been so surprised is because the stuff she's into seems really misogynistic - designed specifically to oppress , control and humiliate. And yet she is one of the strongest, brightest most capable and confident people you wil ever meet. If a man was into it , I would assume him to be a rank woman hater. My brain has officially been freaked.

Bondage Discipline Sado-Masochism.

Fabulous deep relationships have formed and unformed, just like vanilla (non BDSM) relationships really.

the D and S also meaning Dominant and submissive.

Go to the London Alternative Market website and go to their monthly meetings and demonstrations.

People's personal tastes behind closed doors can be quite different to their outward persona. I wouldn't be at all surprised.

Just look at the string of celebraties / politicos who've been hung out to dry in the press over the years (the one found dead with an orange stuffed in his face did raise my eyebrows a little though).

I wouldn't read anything into it unless you want to get into psychology.

Agree re 50 shades - abominable piece of garbage.

A lot of people (for centuries) have been into BDSM in one form or another though, so it is not surpsrising that it features in porn movies. BDSM is a big spectrum too, from someone who gets a kick out of having their bot smacked, to someone who likes dressing in latex to a couple of people who get a sexual kick out of adopting a dominant or submissive role in a relationship. Not by any means a mysoginistic bent as many of those who prefer the submissive role are men.

All good, fun, healthy stuff :)
