Queen of Parties

I'm not big on organised 'girls' nights', have never attended a Jamie Oliver party and don't even really like Hen Nights. But I recently attended a Queen Bee Styling Party with some fellow school mums, presented by the lovely Sally Smy of Queen Bee Styling, and it was a completely different and lovely experience. Sally knows her stuff, of course, and so I think we all learned something new that night about what makes a capsule wardrobe and what suits our shape and colouring, but actually, although good, that wasn't the thing I enjoyed the most. What I really loved is that Sally is so funny and down to earth about clothes, body shape, style and shopping. She had us all laughing our heads off, interrupting her, nudging each other... and then, it got even better. In the breaks between her friendly presentation, we found we had lots of new and different things to talk about. Clothes unlocked so many funny/heartfelt/happy thoughts and experiences to share. This is the perfect party for a group of women - maybe an NCT group, or work colleagues, or new school mums - to get to know each other better and in a different way. I couldn't recommend it highly enough. Sally - you are brilliant!

If anyone is interested in hosting a party, the price works out at no more than ?20 pp and is usually less, depending on the number of attendees. That's less than a bad purchase or manicure and the effects will last a lot longer!

Actually I have to say that I have hired Sally for the past couple of years and just worship the ground Queen Bee Styling walks on.

I have (hard as it is to admit) made quite a few fashion mistakes in my time. I now invest in Sally twice a year and save a fortune. A fortune I can ill afford too.

Having a stylist is not just for the rich and famous, its for people like us who shop at M&S and think that one shape fits all. It does not though and as soon as you get to grips with your age, shape, size etc it all just makes perfect sense and those impulse buys become a thing of the past!

Ladies, (and gents for that matter) if in doubt, check her out. I would highly recommend Sally, who is just so lovely, puts you at ease and is a fountain of fashion knowledge.

    • I have no information on that. I'd imagine GALA would be happy to advise you direct. I am interested to know what happened at the consultation meeting a few days ago and am hoping that someone from FOPRP can share. The concern is that it is proposed to extend the event footprint and timeframe.  If successful, this could set precedent for further extensions and for other events organisers to bid for slots throughout summer, in a scenario similar to what has happened at Brockwell Park. This is not a flight of fancy, Cllr Catherine Rose has stated intention to monetise parkland.
    • I didn't get residents tickets, but have signed up for the early bird release which goes live today at 10:00 am - I haven't received a link or access code though... anyone else?
    • I've done this 3 times recently and they actually respond very quickly to clean the mess
    • There are also really bad pitted holes further up near the school and hospital - mainly in the areas cyclists use near the pavement. I have no idea why the pavement and road surfaces of this road used by so many children walking and cycling to school is so poorly served by whoever is responsible for maintenance.  A note to all the people driving up to the barrier and forced to do a u-ey,  when there are 4 x road closed signs….. maybe the road is closed. Doh!
