charlottekb
I am said wife, and did not screech! Just got a bit over excited as had been complaining that despite Pulling supposidly being set in Peckham there has not ever been any Peckham sights to be seen. Then low and behold a scene in the Tulip Cafe. Walked past today and noticed it had closed. V sad. karter
Jaflong bangladeshi and indian cuisine has opened today and guess what? It's ram packed already whilst the others are empty, probably because they have a special offer, can't be because of its good tasty food as it's only just opened.:-S Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2835-last-orders-at-the-tulip-cafetoday/page/2/#findComment-107698 Share on other sites
Jeremy
Saw it, but got a takeaway from Pistachio Club instead! Thought Jaflong looked a bit ropey. Cassius
I must admit to some disappointment that yet ANOTHER Indian restaurant has opening on LL - it's not as if we are short of them. I like the Bangladeshi food I've had on Brick Lane - and will give Jaflong a go but something different would have been nice. SeanMacGabhann
I wandered down the Lane about 40 mins after karters posts - Jaflong wasn't full but busy enough but I noticed several diners in most of the other establishments - Tandoori Nights was rammed as usualWhat surprised me about Jaflong was the lack of menu outside the restaurant Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2835-last-orders-at-the-tulip-cafetoday/page/2/#findComment-107955 Share on other sites
karter
Sean, Jaflong was packed when i went past, they opened at 5.30 but i agree the lack of menu and the outside of it could be better but it's early days still. KalamityKel
Do you not think it could possibly have been one of those clever seating ideas where they put everyone at the front of the restaurant to give the impression it's busy? SeanMacGabhann
ooops - didn't mean to contradict you karter, just that by the time I got down there things had evened out a little. And it was only a Wednesday.. will be interesting to see next few days Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2835-last-orders-at-the-tulip-cafetoday/page/2/#findComment-107964 Share on other sites
Peckhamgatecrasher
I had a peek over the top yesterday, just after six, looked about half full. BTW, thought it was illegal not to have a price list in the window? karter
KK, you could be right, clever seating tactics happening here. Sean, don't worry about it.:) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2835-last-orders-at-the-tulip-cafetoday/page/2/#findComment-107993 Share on other sites
KalamityKel
karter when will u learn I'm always right ;-) :ppgc I'm guessing it's not illegal to not put it prominently in the window but has to be in a visable place, where ever it may be. A bit like a pubs licence must be displayed to the public... that could b anyhere tho.
