Hello,

We recently moved to East Dulwich Grove and it seems as our Garden Waste is not being collected. We paid the annual fee for the garden waste collections, the new label still has not arrived, however they tend to be always late. In our previous place in ED waste was collected every week.

Is there anyone here who lives on EDG and can comment on the garden waste collections? Council says it is meant to be picked up every Tuesday, but it seems as it is not. I would ask neighbours, but cannot see any brown bins at the front of their properties.

Thanks :)

I paid the ?40.00 back in early March. Still no Sticker

Have been through to Southwark Council 4 times.

They confirmed by email they had received my payment

and I should get my Bin Sticker by 21st April.

That is tomorrow.

Don't know if it's down to Royal Mail or Southwark Council

We are on a Tues collection and our brown bin is collected weekly. Do you leave it at the entrance to the property so it can be easily collected. On EDG you might need to put it on the pavement?

Re the bin stickers - ours arrived last week, but obviously the post situation isn't great at the moment, i'd expect that there would be some leeway on the existing permits to allow for this. Foxy - assuming your bin was collected this week?

I would suggest two avenues:

1. Complain to your Councillor who will forward an email to officers and chase as necessary

2. Make a formal complaint to the council -https://www.southwark.gov.uk/council-and-democracy/complaints-comments-and-compliments/making-a-complaint

I only use my Brown Garden Waste bin a few times a year,

My Garden is Postage Stamp sized but does need some maintenance from time to time.

It isn?t a council election this May, just mayor and assembly.

You will slowly realise that although EDG is a lovely mixed community of wonderful people, who go out of their way to be neighbourly, the local council doesn?t really care about this rd, so pavements, road surface, noise, pollution and cleanliness isn?t a priority. You should have moved onto Melbourne or Townley, Court, Derwent or Calton....all rds that are looked after by the Council. One end is Village Ward the other Goose Green..so both sets of Councillors point the blame to the other set (privately of course). I love this road and the people, I have the best neighbours. Join the EDG group...together we are stronger.

London mayor is Labour, our Council is Labour. Still no brown bin sticker today, Royal Mail just delivered the daily post.

We haven't received our sticker just yet, but I am glad that my garden waste was finally collected :)

It seems as they collect it in the afternoons on East Dulwich Grove, where all other waste very early mornings.

We must have pulled the bin back too early over the last weeks.

Have the threads on this forum about the Royal Mail delivery issues locally completely passed you by?

If all your mail is being delivered daily and none of it has been delayed, you must be about the only lucky person in this area :)

Yes, fortuntunatly we had no trouble with our post, lovely local postman.

    • I agree re rents, but I don't think you can compare Croydon and Bromley with East Dulwich. Different kettles of fish. They both had, or possibly still have, big what used to be called "shopping centres" rather than just high streets. I think the one in Croydon is being "regenerated" or whatever the word is, isn't it? Also shopping habits are changing. Where once you would go to a physical  shop to buy things, now many things are bought online, where apart from the convenience there is more choice, and you can easily compare prices and see reviews. Re Lidl in Dulwich, I knew a very well off person with a house on the Thames in London plus various other places including a flat in Venice (!), who shopped in Lidl because she said their parmesan was excellent 😀 My grandmother used to be very sniffy about M&S (in the days before it became known by its initials) 😀 I think it would be great to have a Lidl nearer than Camberwell or Peckham, but I can't see it happening, sadly. I'd also like to see a Waitrose, preferably replacing Sainsbury's, but that isn't going to happen either, also sadly.
    • An Aldi or Lidl at the Harvester site would be useful. But, there’s a Lidl close by in Peckham.
    • Vispring, I'm not a poet so I don't have enough vocabulary to gush about it, best money I ever spent. Open your wallet, they say you spend a third of your life rafting on it (probably more these days with Netflix).
    • Ah wonderful, I'll pop in and see him One more day and then the fundraiser will close. Just £70 needed to get to £1,500. Thank you all for your generosity and support. Private messages have been lovely.
