mockney piers
"It was good fun wasn?t it, even if I did go out to a bad decision made by a clearly bias umpire. "Agreed, pretty iffy decision that. I reckon if the bails land within 20 yards of your stumps (juuuuust) it shouldn't be out. david_carnell
And congrats to CitizenEd who managed the somewhat unfathomable feat of smashing the bails to pieces with a fielded throw. That's raw power for you! Or gravity. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2825-hello-forumites-its-cricket-time-again/page/10/#findComment-103774 Share on other sites
citizenED
Thanks for that, David - just a shame my direct hit of the stumps from a pretty deep mid-off was not actually during active play.Otherwise my contribution to the game consisted of, falling over, perspiring, day-dreaming, aching and standing around whilst guys threw a ball at me. Hmmm....Happy to report my other unique contribution to the game was getting through the whole day without drinking any beer. Thanks for organising things Leon. LeonWatson
Cracking game boys - that was awesome.I was a bit worried you'd either have loads of really good players like Dems or no good players at all. In the end though it turned out to be a well matched game. I reckon if you'd taken another wicket towards the end - if Dems had caught that catch off Keef! - you probably would've won.The stars of the game were in no order Martin (awesome batting and bowling), Giles (an incredible 45 and good keeping), Jamie Keating (brave and stubborn batting to see us through) and Keef (who really should have taken three or four wickets).I'm writing up the match report now (in between bouts of doing my job...) and it should be on the website today. Expect many references to Keef taking wickets despite being partially sighted! Brendan
Citizen didn?t drink for all of us. The man of the match started on the beer with me at 10:30am. Did him wonders, didn?t work so well for me though. citizenED
A match report, wow!- Leon when you mention my breaking the bail with a ferocious direct hit from mid-off, could you sort of make out that I actually run someone out. And if you have any trouble with spelling and grammar just forward the draft to the forum: we've got several pedants on here who'll soon set you right.;-) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2825-hello-forumites-its-cricket-time-again/page/10/#findComment-103958 Share on other sites
LeonWatson
Forgot about that bail breaking throw - I think the forces of gravity had a lot to do with it though! Keef
Citizen did make a stunning dive to try and make a catch, it looked great, and he really houldn't have gotten near it, but got a hand to it! Keef
Oh and with regards my eyes, I am indeed registered partially sighted, but I can see the length of the wicket, so doesn't really make a difference when bowling... Batting and catching on the other hand... :-$ Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2825-hello-forumites-its-cricket-time-again/page/10/#findComment-103967 Share on other sites
Brendan
Although to be fair Citizen didn?t really break that bail. The bail broke when it hit the ground after his direct hit, side-on from the leg side boundary, shattered all 3 stumps. Brendan
Mate. How do you manage to spell van Rooyen correctly even getting the capitalisation and spacing right, a feat normally lost on the English, and then get Brendan wrong? Fucking journalists.
