Sue
Has anybody had multi-focal lenses inserted following cataracts? If so, what pros and cons did you find, were they vastly expensive, did you still have to wear glasses for some things, and would they have to be replaced at some point?I'm very short sighted and presently have varifocal glasses and multi-focal daily contact lenses for occasional wear, but I'm getting cataracts and beginning to look at options. Seabag
My two friends had it done, it?s about ?8k I think. They are both happy about it, but it sounds a bit scary to me. Sue
?8k?I'll probably stick to the NHS option then!!!But I don't see why it would be any more scary than any cataract op, it would just be inserting different lenses? If you don't have it done at all, you would gradually not be able to see at all, and for me at least that would be a lot scarier! DulwichFox
I have just had my first Cataract Op. 12th April. I had it done st St. Thomas' It took 24 minutes. I went for Distant Lens (0) which means I will need Reading glasses for close up Need to wait for other eye to be done before I can get Prescription Reading glasses' Very awkward at the moment using PC and Iphone. Have to put Eye Drops in for 1 month.. 4 times a day. 2 lots for the first week, My distant vision is Brilliant and I can see the TV well without any glasses.. Better than that I can read the Whateley Road sign opposite the end of my road from outside my house. Most people opt for a Distant lens implant.
