Recommended Posts

Southwark Cyclists are restarting their Saturday morning slow-paced two-hour cycle rides. Some of the rides are longer but all are as flat and off-road or down quiet backstreets. See below for instructions to join in or contact Bruce for more info on [email protected] or text him on 07729 279 945

Bruce writes: Hi Everyone, we are ready to roll again! Note both rides start at the Southwark Gateway Needle (south side of London Bridge)

and CYCLE BUDDIES IS BACK. Would you like a ?Cycle Buddy? who would help you with gaining confidence riding and with finding a route to work or the shops or anywhere? If so then sign up to LCC?s Cycle Buddy scheme at https://www.lcc.org.uk/groups/cycle-buddies/. Last year 2 riders on the Healthy Rides signed up and were helped with routes to work or school. If you know someone who might like to try this, tell them about the scheme. If you consider yourself an experienced cyclist and would be prepared to buddy a less experienced cyclist, then please sign up, it is the same link, https://www.lcc.org.uk/groups/cycle-buddies/

=============================================================

This week we have 2 rides, 19 places, with registration on Eventbrite. Note if all places are already booked it is worth checking back as we may be able to add an extra wave and also there are usually several cancellations during the week.

You must register on Eventbrite, details below. Please give a phone number when registering as it may be needed for Track and Trace. If you cannot make it, please cancel so that someone else can take the place. Even at the last minute it is worth cancelling.

We will keep everyone as safe as possible by observing all the Covid Regulations. Most importantly we will be maintaining routinely a 2m social distance, never less than 1m. Particularly important to maintain social distancing from other users on shared paths. Always give way to pedestrians and to other cyclists so all path users can maintain 1-2 m and feel safe. Just in case we need them, good idea to bring a face mask. Obviously please do not turn up to this event if you are displaying symptoms of Covid-19.

We have 2 waves starting for each ride. The 2 groups will ride the same route with their own ride leader. On the road we expect the groups to stay in sight of each other, but distinct. Please note the Covid regulations say ?avoid social interaction with anyone outside the group you are with, even if you see other people you know?.

So please:

? Keep in your group of 6 ? with 2 waves the ?tickets? will be colour coded ? please remember which colour you are.

? Only talk to those outside your group away from the group and socially distanced.

? Consider wearing a face mask.

Once the event is finished, you can of course interact with anyone as long as you observe social distancing and the other Covid regulations.

This ride is organised by Southwark Cyclists, more information and ride reports at https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/healthy-rides/. Southwark Cyclists are part of the London Cycling Campaign. This ride is organised by volunteers. If you have any feedback, good or bad, please get in touch with [email protected]. For details of LCC?s Safeguarding and other policies please see lcc.org.uk

    • Cheques are still the safest way to send money to others if you want to make a 'thing' of it. At Christmas or birthdays a card with a cheque is the most effective present to distant god children or extended family, for instance when you don't know what they have or need - made out to the parent if you don't think they have an account yet. Of course you can use electronic transfer, often, to parents if you set it up, but that doesn't quite have the impact of a cheque in the post. So a cheque still has a use, I believe, even when you have very much reduced your cheque writing for other purposes.
