Hi,

I am hoping that my 11 year old son might qualify for braces on the NHS as he has an overbite and overcrowded teeth.

Please can anyone recommend an orthodontist or the best way to get the process started? It sounds like we need to first see a dentist and ask for a referral?

It seems that in the past Dulwich Orthidontic Centre had some mixed reviews and many felt that they were pressuring people into paying privately for the braces? Any recent experiences?

Any other recommendations/advice?

Anyone go to King's Dental Hospital?

Many thanks in advance for any advice or information.

Yeah, we went there and ended up paying. In retrospect I wish I'd fought it or got a second opinion as I think our daughter should have qualified for NHS treatment. If I'd known they had a reputation for steering people down the private route then I definitely would have done!

But other than that (though obviously that's quite a big 'but' as it cost a bleeding fortune!) I was pretty happy with the treatment there.

ETA: I don't think King's do standard braces - it's more for dental emergencies, as I understand it.

    • Just seen them! Moved into Barry Rd 33 years ago and remember watching dozens of them in the sky as we sat in the back garden the first evening. Look out for them every year. Lifts your spirits when they arrive.
    • Aleksandra was the driving force behind the conversion of what was a nice but very outdated house into what is now my beautiful, vibrant and modern home. I cannot recommend her enough- she was a pleasure to work with- she has an uncanny eye for detail and her sense of style is unparalleled. She knew where to push me beyond my “safe beige” colours but always kept my personality and preferences in mind. She sourced fabric / colours / lighting designs , she found local options for spectacular interior ideas in the kitchen , display cabinets , bathrooms , bedrooms and wardrobes. She never went beyond budget and was very timely in her execution. The result was a beautiful home that even after 8 years looks as stunning as it did when first put together. It is as liveable as it is beautiful and none of it would have been possible with Alexandra. I truly could not recommend her highly enough- there are few people with her work ethic and style. Thank you Alexandra !
