Not sure about Overhill but for comparison, Crystal Palace Road is not usually gritted and when there's more than an inch or 2 of snow, the junction with Goodrich becomes a clusterfuck of incompetent motorists who obviously just *had* to make their journey, sliding all over the road.

If you're that worried about it then perhaps best not to drive in the snow unless you absolutely have to.

South Bank is quite walkable - unless you've got a lot of stuff to carry, or are physically impaired. I walked to work in Moorgate during the last heavy snowfall, it was almost enjoyable.

Alternatively, buses often keep running. Even if they're not making it over DKH, you could walk over to Camberwell or Peckham and try picking one up from there.

yeah I tend to walk it as well - as Jeremy says it's almost enjoyable (providing you don't seriously hurt yourself with a head-over-heels incident)

But if the buses are running then 176 is best. A train to LB and walk along the South Bank isn't so bad either (maybe a train from Denmark Hill/Herne Hill to Blackfriars would suit as well)

If it gets so bad transport if up the creek and you are able/its not too far defo do the walk as SJ/ Jeremy say. Did it a couple years ago into Bermondsey Street. Wellies, thick socks and it was brilliant. Peaceful and nothing (apart from a deep fried pizza amongst other things) beats the crunch of fresh snow under your feet.
We've recently moved from Overhill Road and it was never gritted - 2 years ago I tried to get my car up the hill and into the drive but it spun around and crashed into the wall. Had to get the RAC out and about 5 builders came and helped push it back down - I was very embarrassed and my husband was furious! I hope they do grit it for you - they definitely should. Good luck and be careful xxxx

    • You could also hire a circular saw from the Library of Things inside the Dulwich Leisure Centre?
    • I was bitten by a smallish dog (black terrier type), in lead, yesterday afternoon (Monday 2 March, approx 1.15pm) at the corner of Heber Road and Cyrena Road.  Nothing too serious, but I have a small wound on my calf and a hole in my jeans. The owner (a middle aged woman) couldn't control her dog, pretended it didn't happen and did a runner.  I managed to take a picture of her as she walked away.  Not a great picture but if you recognise her could you please DM some info so I can report the incident?  If only to ensure that she is spoken to, as this is obviously a dangerous dog and is not under control... Many thanks.
    • I've got no wish to discuss this  again. I've already given my views on a previous  thread in the lounge. I take it you won't be voting Green, but I'm wondering quite where you are coming from with all these attacks on them? Where do your political sympathies lie?  This thread was supposed to be about James McAsh's move away from Labour 🙄 Anyway, it is hopefully another nice day and I'm off to do some gardening.
