The retrogaming market was already booming pre-covid and since then for a variety of reasons prices have gone up a whole lot since then, most anyone with any sense would be looking to sell where they could at least fetch market value, more if they have a limited ED. Since SEGA released the GG mini in Japan and with releases like the recent Aleste pack the GG has become even more sought after.

If you manage to get hold of one, make sure that you factor into the price of a pre-emptive repair for it if you plan on using it rather than displaying it as they are known to be affected by leaking capacitors which end up corroding the circuit board. If you buy from a knowledgeable buyer you might get lucky and fetch one that's already been modded. A light mod with a better backlight or even replacement screen would be sensible quality of life improvements (likewise for your GBC) and both the GBC and GG have Everdrive carts (and inferior clones) where you can load up ROMS to your heart's content, also allowing you to play ips patched games, romhacks and backup your .sav files too. If that all sounds like too much bother, there's a whole world of cheap to moderately expensive handheld emulation systems now, with far better screens, better batteries and the ability to run stuff like RetroArch.

    • I once had some very grumpy buyers, I'd moved heaven and earth and compromised a little on price, was tempted just to tell them where to go and put it back on the market - I wanted to get rid but could hang on longer.  I bit my lip, and they sent me a very stroppy email which I deleted without reading. Ideally we'd get on with our buyers and sellers, always try to meet them, and you can often sort out issues directly.  Estate agents tend to not like you have the other parties details. I've generally had more problems with the ones I've not met. It can be stressful for both sides.  You often get an inkling whey you know that they may be awkward, and that includes going the other way with a last second increase in price when markets are moving upwards.  Again, bad karma!
